I'm hoping this magical, undetectable demographic of voters who never take polls magically does show up in November.

I heard a pollster the other day describe how it is not all science. There is an art to it. If you look at the raw data, it will never be a representative sample. Older people are more likely to answer. People with land lines are more likely to answer. Education and other things alll skew the results. So the pollsters have to back out these factors the best they can. But you can check your results only every two years.

So the margin of error could be a bit bigger than it is.

Still. If I had anything left to bet, I’d bet on re-election .

With respect to impeachment, I can guarantee you that there are Democrats in congress who don't think that Trump's actions warranted impeachment, and there are Republicans who think that they did.

I think it more likely that all Democrats think that Trump's actions warranted impeachment, and all Republicans think that it did, too.

These aren't polls of "Trump cultist." These aren't polls of "100 Americans who already told us Trump can do no wrong." These aren't polls that are somehow only asking people who's mind can't be changed.

These are polls of all Americans, of all Republicans, of all potential voters, national, statewide, local... these aren't polls that are somehow going through and only asking people who's mind can't be changed these questions and the numbers aren't changing.

Again right now the entire Democratic Strategy is dependent on there being some meaningful block of voters who aren't taking polls, talking to the media, or being detected by political analyst.

I'm hoping this magical, undetectable demographic of voters who never take polls magically does show up in November.

The first poll since the vote not to allow witnesses shows...that public opinion hasn't changed.

Anybody who said that there was no crime after the GAO rendered its verdict was either a) mistaken or b) lying.

Bribery is also a crime, as is obstruction of justice.

No. The GAO started it was illegal. But lots of illegal things are not crimes, for example driving faster than the posted speed limit. There is no allegation in the GAO report that there was a crime.

Furthermore, the GAO’s opinion on the matter is not the last word. The OMB’s position is that it was not illegal. A court would have to settle the dispute, but it likely won’t ever reach that.

I don't know crap about politics so I have a question. Let's pretend that he were impeached... would he then be able to run for the 2020 election?

I think you’re parsing “crime” a little too pedantically.

Driving faster than the posted limit is against state statutes, which are laws. Violation of those statutes/laws are punishable by fine, license suspension or revocation, or even imprisonment. That qualifies them as “crimes” by most common definitions.

In the summer of 2019, the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) withheld from obligation funds appropriated to the Department of Defense (DOD) for security assistance to Ukraine. In order to withhold the funds, OMB issued a series of nine apportionment schedules with footnotes that made all unobligated balances unavailable for obligation.

Faithful execution of the law does not permit the President to substitute his own policy priorities for those that Congress has enacted into law. OMB withheld funds for a policy reason, which is not permitted under the Impoundment Control Act (ICA). The withholding was not a programmatic delay. Therefore, we conclude that OMB violated the ICA.

That's the conclusion from the GAO, which is that the President violated the law in withholding the aid from Ukraine.
