Cont: House Impeachment Inquiry - part 3

Seen this gem float across social media a few times, no idea who deserves attribution.

Fake transcript. This isn't real. Dems will try anything. Remember when low-IQ Adam Schiff thought he could pull a fast one re-inventing Trump's perfect phone call but completely distorting the record even though we literally had print outs?

So the latest Trump defense:

According to Dershowitz, there is nothing wrong with 'Quid pro quo' because the president thought it was in the country's best interest to get himself re-elected.

From: https://www.cnn.com/2020/01/29/politics/dershowitz-quid-pro-quo/index.html
...a politician trying to win reelection is acting in the national interest, and therefore a quid pro quo aimed at boosting reelection chances cannot be impeachable.

...

Just like Walter White was cooking meth to save his family... It's the Heisenberg defense.

"Lets put out the dumbest possible argument and see how the GOP reacts".
Does not matter. Listen to Erick Erickson on Bill Maher's show from last Friday. It does not matter how evil, perverse, disgusting, stupid, or criminal they think Trump is, all they know is that it's God's plan to put Trump in the White House so we can overturn Roe v. Wade. That's it.

This is the same Joe Biden who can't keep it together long enough to not touch girls in public, even after being told multiple times.

Yeah, I remember when Biden said

I better use some Tic Tacs just in case I start kissing her. You know I'm automatically attracted to beautiful—I just start kissing them. It's like a magnet. Just kiss. I don't even wait. And when you're a star, they let you do it. You can do anything.

The guy just can't control himself!

Oh, wait.....

"If a president does something which he believes will help him get elected in the public interest, that cannot be the kind of quid pro quo that results in impeachment." -- Alan Dershowitz

Trump thinks reelecting Trump is in the public interest. Murdering his opponents will help Trump get reelected. Therefore, Trump murdering his opponents cannot result in impeachment.

"If a president does something which he believes will help him get elected in the public interest, that cannot be the kind of quid pro quo that results in impeachment." -- Alan Dershowitz

Did Dershowitz really say this?

It really is staggering just how intellectually dishonest people can be. Dershowitz knows this is absurd and yet he says it. This guy teaches at Harvard. Or at least he did.

It's worth noting that Dershowitz has been pumping out disinformation throughout this entire saga (and before). And that that's probably why he was selected.

I can't help thinking Trump has blackmail material on multiple people. In Dershowitz's case, it'd be evidence he was with little girls on Epstein's island. Or for Lindsey Graham, that he's gay.

I'm just not getting what Bolton is going to prove happened that Trump hasn't already openly bragged about doing.

Trump admitted both the Quid-pro-quo and the obstruction. Neither of these facts are in dispute.

Getting Bolton up there so prove he did it doesn't matter when the defense is "Yeah he did it but we don't care, it's all a deep state witch hunt, but whatabout Biden..."
Just another notch in the GOP denial.

They claim no one proved a direct connection to Trump. Bolton can obviously do that.

McConnell wants to brush all the sound bites under the rug. The more this gets headlines like Bolton testifying, the worse the GOP Senators look letting Trump off the hook.

Have no fear though, Dershy's new defense, it's OK for Trump to cheat on the election because Trump believes getting reelected is good for the country.
It's unbelievable this is actually being spoken aloud in public.

Ninja'd by Cain and his answer is better. :p

And by Segnosaur. Shows you how gobsmacked were all were hearing that.

This has been GOP SOP for years.

I see this paradigm in all kinds of discussions.

A "genuine, deeply held belief" that ones actions were correct or doing something "for the right reason" means nothing they did was wrong.

I mean Jesus ****. Seriously. Trump must have Dershowitz on tape banging the **** out of a Girl Scout on Epstein's ****** up island. I mean seriously, what the ****? Did a Harvard law professor really just argue that what Trump did was okay? If you want to sell your virtue dumb ****, go to Craig's List, not the floor of the Senate. Trump has to have something on that disgusting little bastard. No real legal scholar would come up with the Dershowitz, "Please don't tell I ****** an underaged girl" defense. Dershowitz is less than a man.
