what does Tom Steyer offer that Bernie Sanders doesn't?

Sanders is more energetic, has broader appeal, much higher up in the polls.

The Republicans will always be sore losers about any Democrat win over Trump. Might as well double down on it. Expose the Republicans in a way no Democrat has so far.
My impression is that Sanders is a rigid ideologue and Steyer is not. I'm not a fan of rigid ideologues even when I generally agree with them.

Another difference is Steyer doesn't identify as a *.Socialist. The label is a risk in the general.

How much of her plan depends on Congress to pass bills for her to sign?

For this particular one... not much, honestly. Most of her other plans involve much more Congressional involvement than this one, which is much more about staffing choices, preparation, and actions, which are not dependent on Congress. Approval of some staffing selections is, of course, but pledging to send a rather large chunk of those for review on Day 1 is good in and of itself.

Wow! Yang at 8%! Hold on to your butts!

That's some pretty nice growth from being a total unknown, incidentally.

Yang will bow out eventually but it will be interesting to see who he endorses. My guess is that it will be Sanders.

I never noticed how lame USA today is

There's a reason it's the paper given away free in lower middle class motels. That's how they can boast of having the widest circulation. For years it also boasted of having the most pictures, in color.

Let's face it. If the Republicans control Congress, then none of the Democrats will get anything passed anyway.

More generally, let's face the fact that the President doesn't actually have the authority to make the kind of policy changes they talk about in their campaign speeches. When the candidate proposes to do X if elected, what they really mean is that they're going to try to talk the public into talking their legislators into doing X, and the candidate will sign the bill into law when it lands on their desk.

Democrats won't get anything done even if they hold the Presidency, super-majorities in both houses of Congress, all 9 SCOTUS seats, all of the 5 New York Crime Families, all the Houses of Westeros, the East and West Coast Rappers, the Infinity Gauntlet and the One Ring. The Republican 3rd Assistant Road Kill Scrapper for District 7, Dishrag, West Virginia will still somehow stop them.

Which is why the "Oh government stalemates are good because governments are evil so keep Trump in power so nothing gets done" nonsense is a load of spit and chips.

They got Obamacare passed.

Perhaps. On the other hand, they can use executive orders to reverse at least some of the damage that Trump has done with HIS executive orders. (Not exactly a perfect solution... it would be better to come up with long-term legislative solutions for things like the Dreamers. But at least they can stop things from getting worse.)

And the president can veto some of the more questionable legislation a republican congress could pass.

And hey, the president can always declare a state-of-emergency and do whatever they want. As Trump has showed, its A-Ok with the republicans.

This is ahistorical nonsense, albeit poetical.

Ad hom.

Audio is audio, no matter who recorded it.

No it's not - not when O'Keefe is involved. He's a proven liar who has edited videos to twist it to the point he wanted to make. Audio is so much simpler to alter. So with him, *HE* has the burden of proof of authenticity, not us.

Thus, it's not Ad Hon either.

ETA: I see I'm late to jump on this bandwagon.
