Cont: House Impeachment Inquiry - part 2

I don't believe Mike! was endorsing the article, but merely pointing out that people actually are making the argument.
Thanks. I agree Mike! wasn't endorsing the article.

My only other nitpick is that an argument wasn't made in the article, re-iteration of a claim was made.

Excuse me? It's like you don't understand how the process works. Pelosi can deliver the impeachment articles any time she wants. That is, until this session is over. The players she's dealing with are not going to change. The only thing she can do is make demands. Now McConnell and the Senate don't have to meet those demands. Oh well. But there won't be a trial and Trump will still have been impeached.

Well that'll show him!

It has been made...

Why does the name, Noah Feldman seem familiar?

He was one of the key Democratic-presented witnesses in the Impeachment Inquiry. Constitutional expert. Curly hair, bow tie. Looked like a soda jerk.

(I don't mean that as insult -- it was just my thought.)

eta: Correction. No bow tie. But check out the Google for Images of "soda jerk" and you'll see what I mean.

But convincing a group of untrained people of corrupt intent has been the job of prosecutors for two centuries. Some laws have it as a requirement. I don't understand why this one time it is going to be exceptional to do like those other times.

In this case, its more like the trial of a white guy charged with murdering a black girl in 1960's southern Hicktown, USA. Dozens of eye witnesses saw him commit the murder and testified against the white guy, yet in his closing, the prosecutor has to convince the jury that the white guy is guilty, when the jury is a group of white untrained people who have already made up their minds that they are going to vote not-guilty.

The closing will have to be an exceptional one.

Like I said, he was caught on camera bragging about it, which by your standards would be enough incrimination for Trump to be investigated. I get that you're immensely against Trump's efforts against Ukraine. I don't completely disagree with you on that position. What he did was wrong but is something that can be settled electorally... You all clearly don't agree with that, and can still push for Trumps removal over Ukraine if you feel his actions warrant that; I'm only pointing out the latest example of double standards rocking back and forth since it came up again since the entire matter of pushing him out is out of holding him accountable. Apparently accountability is not equal

But I get it, Trump is the bad guy. It's absolutely impossible for his actions to be wrong while discovering someone else bragged about playing a part in leveraging funding over a conflict of interest.

You can carry on about Trump. I already made my point, and the responses more or less sum up what I expected to see.
People pointing out that your point was pointless?

Pelosi is playing a bigger game.

While the articles are not delivered, Trump remains "out on bail". Not only is his reputation (such as it is) besmirched, he has no recourse to "clear his name".

McConnell really wants the Senate trial to start so he can instantly quash it on Donny's orders, as he has already threatened. He's up Donny's arse to the back teeth. But he can threaten and bluster all he likes. If the Senate doesn't get the articles, he is powerless to do his master's bidding. And Donny will be mad!

But Mitch is also sitting on hundreds of bills sent up by the Dems. He has tried to kill those by simply not accepting them. Now they are a liability!

Now Pelosi has offered him an out. All Mitch has to do is get those hundreds of pending bills out from under his arse and get them passed. Do that, plus ensure (not just promise) a fair trial with witnesses on both sides, and maybe...just maybe...the impeachment articles will get sent up. If not, Donny will remain impeached forever.

Your move, Mitch.

She also urged Senate majority leader, the Republican Mitch McConnell, to bring forward votes on the raft of bills passed by Democrats in the House since the 2018 midterms.

Who is making up this strategy? Dinsdale Pirhanna?

Those Do-Nothing Democrats want our Do-Nothing Republicans to do something?
The Hypocrisy!
Mitch's biggest problem is he can't concede to any Dem demands. Resisting and denying them everything has been his publicly stated MO since Obama was elected.

The problem now is that attitude paints him into a tiny corner with the giant orange flaming dog-poop-sack of Damocles hanging over him. Even running down the clock leaves Donny publicly humiliated. The only way out is publicly humiliating for himself and against Donny's wishes. And heaven forfend if Donny were to tweet-insult hm! That would be the end!

It is clear now that Pelosi will not send the articles of Impeachment to the Senate until the Senate agrees to what the Democrats consider to be a fair trial.

It's all in McConnell's court. Tick Tock.

Why does McConnell have to do anything?

If Pelosi won't take the Articles to trial until the Senate changes the rules to suit her, then all the Senate has to do is not change the rules, and that's the end of it. The Articles never go to trial, the case for removal is never tested, and the House Dems just look stupid for going through all the motions of impeachment except the part that actually matters: The trial.

Or Pelosi backs down and agrees to the current Senate rules.

Given that McConnell and Graham have sworn to ignore any evidence and let Trump run his own trial, how exactly would this be a test for removal?

Except Donny is demanding his day in court to grandstand. And until he gets it, he can be painted as an arrested GOP criminal. Right through the upcoming election.
