So FoxNews posted a new poll this morning and I think the numbers (my continued insistence that we most emphatically NOT fall into the trap of putting too much emphasis on polling and/or reading anything in the numbers that isn't explicitly there both of which I still stand behind 100% notwithstanding) are interesting. Mainly in that it comes from FoxNews so the screams of "Fake news, liberal lamestream media, Communist News Network Witch Hunt!" will be quieter at least.
- His disapproval is still at the "About 55% disapprove, about 45% approve, give or take 5%" that it's been at since the universe begin pretty much (53% approve to 47% approve in this case.)
- A very, very slight majority say Trump should be impeached and removed. (50% for impeachment and removal, 41 for no impeachment at all and 4% for impeachment and not removal which is... odd but whatever. I'm assuming some "Planet X" answers were left off the published results.) Again this is holding steady, unchanged since last time it was asked in October.
- 53% say Trump has abused the power of his office. 38% says he hasn't.
- 48% say Trump has obstructed Congress. 34% say he hasn't.
- 45% say Trump has committed bribery. 37% say he hasn't.
- A solid majority (58% say no, 22% say yes, 20% say unsure) don't think a President asking for political favors is a normal thing that "all President do."
- 52% say the Trump administration is not co-operating enough with investigators to 36% that say he is.
- 45% say the Democrats are running Impeachment inquiry fairly to 38% that say no.
Now I'm not really all that interested in the actual number, 1 because that backfired so badly in 2016 and 2 because as noted it's the same "About 45% like Trump, about 55% hate Trump" ratio that every question about Trump or anything one step removed from Trump has been answered with a 5% margin of error since Trump started being a thing we had to care about. Nothing it seems is ever going to break that 45/55 split in America.
I'm more interested in how politicians who aren't Trump are going to react if indeed they will at all.
