Greta Thunberg - brave campaigner or deeply disturbed?

I think I have too. I don't know, I can't remember but I wouldn't doubt it. I can't be arsed to go look.

Anybody who's been awake for the past 30 years knows that climate change is irreversible but....sometimes you just have to hold onto that hope no matter how faint and if supporting someone like Thunberg can help with a guilty conscience then attacking Thunberg can be seen as an attempt to extinguish that hope.

Thunberg just called for "drastic sufficient action". nobody knows what that is, nobody cares what that is or what that might entail but to question it is to put yourself in the position of a trump supporting right wing climate change denying.....sinner.

While she goes to COP 25 which will be full of people that do and will say a **** load more than she can.

It is half the reason her "challenge to get there" is quite funny.

The highlighted part makes you a denier.
You people really are past the point of wearing that [basically meaningless] word out.

The way you use it reminds me of Invasion Of The Body Snatchers (the 1978 version), only the replaced people point at you and go "reeeeeee!" instead of "denier!".

Is it Thunberg's success that annoys you?...

Success? Is that what you call it?

Speaking for myself, what annoys me about her is .... practically everything, starting with that strangely characterless face and the way she suddenly contorts it into (rather disturbingly) overwrought grimaces during her speeches performances talks, ****, I don't know what they're supposed to be.

“You people” always makes me chuckle.

It's quite saddening to see hoards of Thunberg's peers (school kids) aping her, the length and breadth of the western world. The next generation of the idiocracy promises to be the most blandly stupid, unquestioning, unsceptical and basically mindless that ever lived.

Yeah! The nerve of those people who will have to live most of their lives in a changed climate being concerned about it. They should follow the example of their elders and ignore it..

Discussions like these seems to be a have to agree with every single thing a few people say on a forum, or you are an evil denier type thing.

Which while quite funny as it is only a forum, is also quite weird.

People who live most of their lives in a changed climate, have no idea it has changed, except for tales of the good ol' days..

They will be complaining about the northwest passage icing over and the lower sea levels destroying their ' no longer' beach front property..

We have, and will always be, living in a " changed ' climate.

How we adapt to it is all that matters..

The rapidity of the change matters quite a bit, too.

That has a lot to do with the difficulty of adapting to it.

Randall Munroe's excellent graphic on the subject cannot be shared often enough/

Entitled;

A Timeline Of Earth's Average Temperature
Since the Last Ice Age Glaciation

It has the apropos subtitle;

When people say "The climate has changed before." these are the kind of changes they're talking about.

If you haven't seen this, you should. It is the most clear response to your comment.

Please pass it along to your friends.

You are claiming that people of Ms. Thunberg’s generation, who have been observing rapid climate change in their own lifetimes, and who very likely will observe it changing at an even more rapid rate as they age, are actually not aware of it. The word that comes to mind for that claim is idiotic.

It is also a very good example of the many posts in this thread from posters who are, for whatever bizarre reason, so desperate to disparage Ms. Thunberg that they have to take totally unrealistic positions of their own.

Do we understand then that you personally have encountered zero evidence for increasingly rapid climate change over the course of your lifetime? Do we understand that you expect there will be no evidence for increasingly rapid climate change over the remainder of you life? There is a word that is commonly used for people who hold those positions. Can you guess what that word is?

I am in my seventies, and I remember deep snow every winter, and the water pipes freezing up. Icicles a foot long hanging from the window frames. I have not seen such winters for the last several decades.

No. You have been told here that you cannot have those memories. :D

... I quoted you:

".... live most of their lives in a changed climate "
So, you were the one doing the claiming..

Now if you had said: " ..a rapidly changing, catastrophe inducing climate ",

you might have had a point, but I wouldn't have even responded..

And the pedantic straw grasping continues. The climate at any point in their future will be changed from what it was when they were younger, and from today. Thus it will be both changed and changing.

It remains to be seen if the coming changes will be “catastrophe inducing”. Those are your words, not mine.

Not even responding might be your best course if your last few posts are the best you can come up with.
