"... put their neck out on the line ..." - does that have some meaning in the US?


Giuliani seems to be saying that Trump has taken a risk in supporting Gallagher. What risk would that be? Anybody?

Probably the more important factor was the USA was at war and was at the time of FDRs last election at last winning. Few people wanted to change presidents under those circumstances and I doubt even greater recognition of his physical fragility would have changed that much.

Exactly! That his health was declining was apparent to anyone who saw him in person, on film or in pictures. He had lost weight and appeared frail. The people didn't care; they trusted him to lead them as he had for the last 3 terms.

Perhaps he meant it in the sense of "If one is a believing Christian, one understands God's plan ...", so "you" doesn't refer to Trump specifically. Then this becomes the old monarchist trope that true Christians accept the authority of their rulers because they hold their position by God's will. In this case Trump is the monarch, which he is, to all intents and purposes, to Republicans. And an absolute monarch, not a constitutional one.

The SC has just ruled that Trump does not have to turn over his tax records at this time.

The court’s stay was in one sense routine, maintaining the status quo while the court decides whether to hear Mr. Trump’s appeal in the case. But it also suggested, given that it takes five votes to grant a stay, that the court viewed the legal questions presented by the case as substantial enough to warrant further consideration.

The court set a speedy briefing schedule, requiring Mr. Trump to file his petition seeking review by Dec. 5. The court could announce whether it will hear the case in the coming weeks and, if it does, issue a decision by June.

Trump is not that clever. But Dunning-Kruger is very strong in him. That leads him to be easily manipulated. Just tell him that he's smarter than the world because he's blocking the WTO and he'll think it's his idea.

Just buy his debts from the Mafia, get him a crass crib in Florida, dribble him a few thou or mill now and then to keep his golf fees paid, get the US taxpayer to pick up the rest because Trump can't help it, and sweet!
