Greta Thunberg - brave campaigner or deeply disturbed?

The important thing to take away from all this is.... I WON!!!!!!

(Also, I mentioned that Greta is editing The Radio 4 Today programme later this year. But nobody wanted to talk about that, which I was a bit disappointed by. Normally I post some news about Thunberg and people get all riled up no matter what it is.;) )

Not really a win. You just pointed out I was a bit of a hypocrite with that one post.

Well done. I agree

Doesn't actually prove the rest are wrong

The irony being I can pretty much guarantee this exchange will be moved to AAH (or whatever its called) by morning and it will be an echo of a ripple, from a pebble, in a stream.

But I will still admit it if you bring it up in future.

I promise never to mention that you accused me of not knowing how the search function works, while demonstrating that you didn't know how the search function works!

That was good fun.

We should wait on that until we've heard what she has to say. By the looks of things, she's going to muck about in the identity politics sandbox again. Oh yay.

So what did you think of 2040 ? Groundbreaking and informative or futurist fluff piece ? Might it serve as an "antidote" or counterpoint to Seven Worlds, One Planet or might the two together inspire people to act ?

I haven't seen it.

Oh, OK. I don't think the author of The Guardian article you linked to has seen it either. It's a futurist fluff piece.

I'd post a link to where you could stream it for free but the last time I did something like that the mods got rather upset. If you search out 2040 watch free online, a source comes up on the first page. A source for the whole movie, not just the trailer.

Greta Thunberg to guest edit BBC Radio 4's Today programme

Greta Thunberg is to swap leading the global fight against the climate crisis for the more stressful experience of directing a group of high-profile BBC presenters, after being announced as one of this year’s guest editors for Radio 4’s Today programme.

The environmental activist will take control of an episode of the BBC’s flagship radio news programme at the end of this year, speaking to leading figures in the fight against global heating and hearing from indigenous, frontline activists. Thunberg, who led school strikes around the world, has also commissioned reports from the Antarctic and Zambia, as well as a Mishal Husain interview with the governor of the Bank of England, Mark Carney.

The Guardian and BBC Radio 4. Quelle surprise.

Unlike "progressive" delinquents who just never ******* learn and continue to avidly consume the woolly-minded **** those organs serve up as "intellectual", "fair and balanced" "reporting", for more and more people that time has long passed.

I am certain the BBC announcement will frost certain people’s shorts. Myself, I am intrigued and curious what she will do.

What is this supposed to mean in relation to Thunberg and climate change?

How to go on about how life threatening time is without doing anything about climate change action.

Make people pay for the doco' telling it.

Ooh, I'm looking forward to Thunberg's show over the holiday break*, hearing from the experts she chooses to talk to.

*I'm looking forward to that during the break more than Doctor Who fans are looking forward to the break (there is no Xmas special, and by the looks of the upcoming Season 12, that looks awful.)

Lol, I just saw the caption about the vegan meal where Thunberg says "And of course La Vagabonde is an all vegan boat.' which is hilarious because that boat couple has a bunch of videos where they spear fish up on their Youtube.

The all vegan boat has to be faked up for the cameras.

Hey look, we're vegans but we murder animals for YouTube views.

They gotta get that crap off of the internet real quick.

ETA: forgot to mention the cow skull in the background.
Maybe it's just vegan for this trip, while they have a vegan passenger.

You don't live on a boat and from port to open sea eating vegetables. The fresh fish daily is part of the lifestyle. You eat what is most available.

It won't be a vegan boat when Miss Greta finds her port.
