2020 Democratic Candidates Tracker - Part II

It's certainly an unusual situation; Giuliani was probably here at some point in 2007, but aside from him I can't remember the last time a mayor was really in the top rank of candidates.

I'm not sure I ever have. The closest was when New York Mayor John Lindsay ran in 1972. It was argued at the time that the Steely Dan lyrics to Kings was referring to Nixon and Mayor Lindsay. But Lindsay's bid was brief. Long time Mayor Richard Daley was something of a force but the nominating process was very different in those days.

This is OK by me. But we were talking as if Mayor Pete had won the nomination. It's called a hypothetical.

Ah, in that hypothetical case Mayor Pete may well kiss a man, in shock and surprise at learning he's trapped on a holodeck or in the Matrix because there's no way in the real world he could defeat the radiant glory that is Warren. "Kiss me, for I am dreaming!" he would proclaim. "Computer, end program!" and then Captain Picard would say "ah, Mayor Pete, welcome to the twenty-fifth century, we're in orbit around Warren IV, named in honor of the great American president who made all this possible" and then Mayor Pete would wonder what he could do in the future there and they'd suggest he could be Wesley's apprentice, until he's gotten some leadership experience under his belt, then maybe he could be the guy who runs the transporters in a year or two.

Very funny. I like.

But I will say this. I thought the same way about Obama in 2008 and Trump in 2016.

So I've given up that level of certainty.

Well, the debate tonight has pretty well been upstaged by the events at the impeachment hearing today.

Warren is sort of doing the "Sanders" act, where every answer goes to her stump speech for her favorite topics.

Shhhh. I'm using The Secret. I figure if it got Oprah all her power there's got to be something in it.

Biden on violence against women: "We have to keep punching on it. And punching on it. And punching on it."

:p

I won't tell anyone.

BTW: Who's Oprah?

Who's Oprah? She's an insane idiot multimillionaire with crazy beliefs and a past history of complete tone deafness to the lives of ordinary people. Which means she'd poll better than two thirds of the current candidates if she ever decided to run.
