Greta Thunberg - brave campaigner or deeply disturbed?

And when you actually put those quotes in context I will answer all.

I think the massive thing missing here is that it is possible to be critical of Greta (Or her teams) methods while still agreeing with the concept of climate change screwing the world.

I think a couple of posters seem to fail to grasp this.
Going out and talking to people and giving speeches. Hardly radical.

No ****

Suggesting otherwise wasn't what I was doing.

Try re-reading my posts.

Other than some weak hand waving to the effect that we should stop presenting facts or science because crackpots don’t care these things I really don’t see you presenting anything else. The truth is that presenting facts and science is exactly how we should address climate deniers and others crackpots.
It isn't that. It is just that it isn't the greatest one to use arguing with climate deniers as they will just point out other years of fires.

By this logic we shouldn’t bother pointing out creationists are wrong about so-called “missing links” in the fossil record because every time one is shown not to be missing at all it creates new holes.

What Greta does wonderfully well is make accurate nuanced statements without bothering to explain or debate the science behind them. This triggers the climate science deniers who invariably get up in arms about her statement then get angry when they have to backpedal the scientific basis for the statement is presented.

This sends them into fits of hand-waving about how annoying she because now their pride is hurt because they can’t find any real flaw in the statements made by a 16-year-old autistic girl. Their beliefs say she must be wrong, their pride says they must understand things better than she does but they are always forced to retreat and IMO this is what they are annoyed by.

If you actually read my posts you would see I was warning arguments climate deniers will use against the arguments.

More fires - There have always been fires (I don't disagree they are getting worse, but you will next get a lot started by people)

More frequent Venice floods - Good

Severe Venice floods - Not good.

I am just trying to point out these examples aren't great Climate change examples.

Are if you had sane people you are talking to, but you aren't normally talking to sane people on this topic

You seem to have it in your mind they are not good examples but can’t seem to articulate any valid reason for that belief. Should you not consider the possibility that your inability to resolve this cognitive dissonance is what has you annoyed not Greta or the people correcting you?

How is saying the temperature going up 1.5 degrees but not as much higher as some predict, saying the climate is not warming?

How much temperature s rise with an increase in CO2 is a major subject in climate science. Believing that this number is lower than what scientists report IS climate science denial. Period. End of story.

I wasn't talking about temperature now.

I was talking about future modeled predictions.

You are mixing what they are reporting and what they are predicting.

Does she know better than the folks she'll be addressing at COP25?

Some, quite likely. Most, probably not. Do you have a proposal for the minimal amount of knowledge that should be required in order to address the conference? Is it required to have more knowledge than those others, or is a fresh perspective sufficient.?

No worries

It is a pretty funny story
It is, but it has nothing to do with either her or climate change. It's exactly the same story as the 1928 cell phone user, recycled with a new subject. The internet is full of photos that appear to show modern people in old photographs. I found a page with a list of 17 of them but the format of the site was so heinous that I won't inflict it on anyone.

Greta happens to be the subject of this one, but it's no more about Greta than it is about the hipster in sunglasses in a photo from the 1920s.
