Wow! Was just told that my son’s book, “Triggered,” is Number One on The New York Times Bestseller List. Congratulations Don!

And that is our President.

He believes it is OK to make stuff up if it will help revenues.

A billionaire grifter.

I find it completely ironic that he is a Trump supporter (a president who tweets like a teenage girl, and regularly insults people with childish rhetoric), yet he complains that other people are mean to him.

Well, I think we've all come to realize that you can't expect rationality or self-awareness from a Trump supporter. Their kind don't have the capacity.

It's nice that the window-lickers have some new words to work on sounding out. I hope they don't drool too much on their nice new books.

Yesterday I was watching the impeachment hearings and peripheral goings-on, and Jim Jordan strikes me as such a wingnut that it made me wonder whether he and or Mark Meadows are a kind of designated political equivalent of hockey's goons.

Did a bit of reading, but nothing to revealing, apart from John Boehner's less than glowing appraisals: “Jordan was a terrorist as a legislator going back to his days in the Ohio House and Senate … A terrorist. A legislative terrorist.” and "“**** Jordan. **** Chaffetz. They’re both ********.”

Are they really just crazy, or are they the nominated crazyperson(s) put out front to just flail at the opposition?

I don't think all Trump supporters are evil or stupid (notice I said 'all') but I have to admit that, when I hear a person is a Trump supporter, my opinion of them plummets. I just don't see how anyone can support such a disgusting, loathsome, despicable, lying excuse for a man even if they agree with his policies.

It's difficult not to react that way. One of my best friends from college supports Trump and does so with asinine arguments. My opinion has changed because of that. I confess that I think he's less intelligent than before, more easily swayed by poor news sources and those around him (he lives deep in Trump country in rural Oklahoma).

Another friend of mine says he voted for Hillary but he's come to like Trump. He's able to see some of the deficiencies, but likes his policies. I've not lowered my opinion on him, but my picture of him has become more complicated than it was. (I haven't talked to him since August, but would sure like to know what he thinks about the impeachment.)

What did he make up? Right now, it shows as the bestseller on the combined print and ebook nonfiction list.

@RepRatcliffe asked the two “star” witnesses, “where is the impeachable event in that call?” Both stared straight ahead with a blank look on their face, remained silent, & were unable to answer the question. That would be the end of a case run by normal people! - but not Shifty!

Trump, with Erdogan next to him, on Syria:
We are keeping the oil. We have the oil. The oil is secure. We left troops behind only for the oil.

In addition to being illegal, this 'policy,' Trump saying, ""We should be able to take some also," (which may be nothing more than hot air from Donnie, a State Dept. official downplayed it), hurts America in the eyes of the world. ABC News reported:
Beyond the legality, many critics have also said Trump's initial decision to withdraw U.S. forces and abandon the SDF that lost 11,000 fighters as the de facto U.S. foot soldiers against ISIS, but now keep some hundreds of troops to guard oil further undermines America's standing.

"We'll betray an ally, but we'll go back in to protect the oil? That sickens me, frankly, and I think as you can see from so many of the troops that have had to pull out and abandon their allies, they're sickened by the president's decision as well," Rep. Adam Schiff, D-Calif., told ABC's "This Week" on Sunday. Link

NPR regularly interviews folks going to political rallies, and of course Trump’s.

One lady (from Louisiana) said, “I like the vulgarity. I’m kind of vulgar myself!”

This returns to the sentiment expressed in previous elections, The candidate is “Just like us.”

Of Dubya... “He seems like a nice guy. The kind of guy you could sit down and have a beer with.”
Of Palin... “She’s a MOM. She’s just like us.”

And so on. Why folks would use such criteria to vote for “The leader of the free world” is perhaps a mystery, but there it is. “Is the candidate likeable” seems to be a huge factor for many, transcending qualifications.

There was a CBS News thumbnail I saw on YouTube yesterday, "Trump on the Impeachment Hearings: "I heard it's a joke."" My first thought was that if he "heard" it, he wasn't actually watching the hearings, and was getting it through the filter of Fox News. CNN had this article today about how Fox News is portraying the hearings as a complete failure and an embarrassment for the Democrats, including literally calling it a joke. Playing to their number one fan.

And then there's the complete misjudgement of the person and their character. Do they really want to sit down with the millionaire scion of a New England Brahmin ?

Or has the Overton window of GOP crazy moved so far that what was once considered a legislative terrorist is now considered Republican mainstream ?

This is why up until Trump basically American politics was a long game of watching two groups of old money, Ivy educated, old white people try to put on the least cringeworthy act of pretending to be some salt of the Earth, blue collar yokel.

In this case, he's not making it up. Except that the book is number one in non-fiction and should probably be in fiction.

Walmart announces great numbers. No impact from Tariffs (which are contributing $Billions to our Treasury). Inflation low (do you hear that Powell?)!
