House Impeachment Inquiry

While this is an over simplification of what happened, it is a factually true statement.

Yeah, in the same sense that "Trump never lied to the American people" is true, because he only lies to the subset of people who listen to him.

I don't buy it. Kelly and others are just trying to retrofict a technical truth onto a statement that was untrue to begin with.

That kellyb did not drag out the well known context that shows the statement is both technically true and misleadingly oversimplified, looks like a reflection of her overconfidence in the sophistication of her readers.

Yes, clearly the problem is that we're too stupid.

I've been listening to the public hearing on and off this morning. Ambassador Taylor is not doing Trump any favors today.

I think the one thing that makes the public trials much more convincing than the transcripts is hearing the witness's tone when they give their testimony.

Like you said, Taylor wasn't doing Trump any favors with his words, and his tone made it worse. He was almost offended, bothered and annoyed at Trump and Guilliani's words and actions. The part that I saw, albeit briefly, was speaking condescendingly about Sondland and his actions. Taylor has, what appeared to me to be, a lot of disdain for what happened.

I think if you have the time to go back and read her recent contributions to this thread as a whole she has a valid point to make and that statement is a part of that valid point. But it may be easier to just be mad at her.

What's the valid point? The guy wasn't investigating.

How about you stop being coy and tell me what your actual point is?

But it may be easier to just be mad at her.

Now who's reading into others' posts?

Sheesh. I'll pop back in next week the discussion digresses to the hugely important historical event unfolding now, rather than an ISF pissing match over who gets the last word over what someone said someone else said they said but didn't.

Nunes is on, saying "democrats are lying" and giving examples where Schiff has casually said things and paraphrased the Trump transcript in ways which I'd call "engaging in some mild hyperbole, mixed with speculation presented as fact."

Good lord, I hate that Schiff does that stuff. I had a feeling they'd put that stuff on CNN over and over again.

And now Nunes has transitioned into getting Taylor to... debunk the Steel Dossier? And support a theory of Ukrainian election interference in 2016.

That's what Nunes is there for, to **** on the process. I don't care that Schiff said a few things that were hyperbolic. We have a guy in office that lies constantly, who would have thought that the GOP was so self unaware that they'd even try to make that a point?

Something, something chess with a bird, something, something crapping on the board and flipping it over.

Ah, but see, Trump lies 'transparently', while Shifty Schiff lies in secret! That's much more badder. At least that's what they served us as an excuse back in 2016 with Hillary.

The Republicans are going to use the Trump impeachment to go with educating the US public about this:
https://twitter.com/aaronjmate/status/1194675914971463681

And somehow try to use THAT to try to say the "arms for anti-Biden headlines and oppo research material" deal was legit "foreign policy," looks like.

Their problem is going to be that the Zelensky call never mentioned any of that stuff. Not once. I'm not sure what kind of acrobatics they'll try to pull, to try to scandalize the fact that Ukrainians who had just been invaded by Russia didn't want a freakishly pro-Russia weirdo to get elected as POTUS in the US (duh), and make that somehow justify a quid pro quo.

Trump shouting "Read the Transcript" reminds of a an unfaithful wife daring her husband to look in the wardrobe for the lover she is hiding: her husband won't because he wants to keep up the illusion that she isn't cheating on him.

Have you ever known Trump to paraphrase someone unfairly? Perhaps while, oh, mimicking the gestures of a disabled person?

No, me either. Your comments just ring hollow to me.

The intended audience is Republicans, so they're going for a "Sure, Trump's not perfect, but these liberals lie all the time, and they're lying about this complicated stuff right here, you so what are you going to do? Side with liberal liars over us?" effect.

He also presents really well. Great voice for authoritative speaking.

******** Jim Jordan is on right now. I could just mute that ******** that's going to come from his mouth.

Did I just hear that idiot Devin Nunes claim that Trump wanting Ukraine (a country Trump doesn't like)
to investigate Biden was 'the mother of all conspiracy theories'?

Wow.

Schiff's doing great in debunking the new Republican narrative nonsense in his cross examinations type questioning. He was just like "All that "Ukraine interfered in 2016" stuff...did Trump ever mention that to ANY of you before the call? Was the call about that in any way? No? And what was it about? Oh, Biden? And he said he wanted Biden being investigated on TV? Oh!"

This new republican guy Rep Jim Jordan is up now just attacking Ambassador Taylor. It's...weird. He's just irrationally ranting. LOL I guess they just got freaked out by Schiff being on point?
