Split Thread Scorpion's Spiritualism

Seems that dead young people can grow and mature at the same rate as the living. I wonder what happens when you become a really old spirit. Do you die again and become yet another spirit? If you are already really old when you die the first time do you just keep dieing, returning as a spirit, and then dieing again in rapid succession?

Yes it is something of a conundrum to be sure. It would seem the champions of belief in spirits, reincarnation and such, have many loose ends to tie up. When challenged to address these issues they seem to pucker up unfortunately.

You hoo ............ are you there Scorpion?

According to what I have learned from trance mediums...
If a baby dies it grows to maturity in the spirit world. If an old person dies they grow younger until reaching the prime of life.
Spirits do not die, they are immortal. The only way to end a spirit life is for the person to reincarnate.

I guess that’s the beauty and appeal of “just so” stories - they can be anything you want!

So some randomer told you that an you swallowed the bait hook, line and sinker without any critical thought. Right.

I would normally ask for evidence of these wild claims, but what's the point?

Consensus seems to be that the total number of humans that have ever lived is around 108 billion. That's a lotta spirits! Any idea where, or how, they spend their time when they are not appearing in front of you and your cronies?

In the context of a non-physical being what does that even mean?

One would wonder why they have to take human form at all, considering that they didn't have it when they left that inconvenient meat bag they used to cut about this dimension behind.

Reincarnating as Mimbari obviously!

It's to the grief vulture's medium's advantage to pretend that the spirit world bears some sort of equitable relationship to the real world. Of course the spirits of your dead relatives have all the personality traits they had in life. Nobody wants to talk to a non-human, undifferentiated gob of spiritual goo. And since so much of one's perception of personality is tied up in facial expressions, believers need to imagine that their dead relatives still have faces.

The age is where equity comes in. In the case of relatives who died old and infirm, believers want their memories to be of them in their prime. In the case of children who die early, believers want them to have somehow had the life they were robbed of by whatever caused their untimely death. The spirit world fortuitously balances out everything that we think is cruel or unjust.

And of course those dead relatives have nothing better to do than to be at our beck and call whenever someone warms up the ouija board. When you stack up all the supposed traits of the spirit world, the thing they have in common is that they serve the emotional needs of the living. The spirit world is magically exactly what it has to be in order to make us feel better about ourselves and our lives. The medium simply validates what the rube wants to believe. Who would question that?

The spirits do have a downfall, though. They can only speak in very, very vague terms, progressively getting more detailed the more you speak with them.

There is the factor of reincarnation to consider, as the humans that have lived on earth may have done so in a number of incarnations, but it was the same spirit. But the spirit world teaches that we incarnate on many other planets too. So the pool of spirits is far larger than just the ones that incarnated on earth.
When not incarnate the spirits inhabit higher mental realms which are of unlimited size. There are many more spirits that are not incarnate in a physical body.
It is said there is a long queue if spirits wanting to incarnate on this planet at this time, because our progress as a civilisation offers great opportunity for advancement. Even the last two world wars were an opportunity to resolve karma.

It really is a case of making up whatever sounds most appealing, isn't it? No attempt is made to justify any of it. It's just "what would you most like to believe? OK, that's what the spirits told me".

And this is where your cock-eyed spiritual crankery leads you. The last two world wars were a good thing. You don't see a problem with that?

It's the "shoot 'em all and let God sort 'em out" brand of morality. And these are the people who consider themselves so much more spiritually enlightened than everyone else. :eye-poppi

Fascinating. You sure know a lot of details about this stuff. So tell me, who, exactly organizes all this reincarnation and decides where and what each spirit will be reincarnated into. Are all people (and aliens :D) alive today reincarnations or are some still originals? Is reincarnation is not necessarily restricted to humans (ie; aliens)? Can humans be reincarnated as animals? Can animals be reincarnated as humans (this would explain so much!)? Is reincarnation optional, or do spirits have to go where they are sent? Can you identify at least one other planet that contains reincarnated human spirits?

How many higher mental realms are there? Just one? Or does each higher realm have another above that. Who decides which spirit qualifies for which realm?

So many decisions have to be made. There must be quite the spirit bureaucracy to keep on top of all this. Do these spirit bureaucrats have an opportunity to be reincarnated, or are they stuck in these drudge civil (spirit?) service jobs for all eternity?

You have opened a whole new world of ideas for me and the questions keep flooding into my brain. More questions will follow but please start with these answers for now.
