The Trump Presidency: Part 17

Who's more believable?

Who's more believable?

Trump or Ambassador Bill Taylor?

We all know Trump's background. What about Bill Taylor? Is he some partisan Democrat out to get a Republican President? Hmm.

Bill Taylor. Graduate of West Point in 1969. The West Point year book describes him as "a man who is held in the highest esteem and admiration by all of us."

Served 6 years in the infantry and the 82nd and the 101st Airborne. Vietnam veteran. Received his Master's degree from Harvard. Appointed US Ambassador to the Ukraine by President Bush in 2006.

This is a man who spent 40 years in the United States diplomatic corp.

Also, did I hear right that Trump said he'd have made billions if he didn't run for President?

I don't know about that. He seems to lose billions far more readily.

Maybe he was thinking of how he could have made billions had he LOST to Hillary and then carried through with that set of plans? That's pretty much what they were more seriously preparing for, after all... and it would have been really bad for America, of course, though obviously it, itself, would be a less acute badness than what we're facing now. Itself, at least... I wouldn't be surprised in the least if, had Hillary won, the well-funded and organized right-wingers pushing for a Constitutional Convention would get their wish and thoroughly break America for their own benefit and everyone else's loss.

In other random news...

ALEC's #1 priority: Gerrymandering to lock Democrats out for another decade

Really, Liz? I'd say that you give Republicans a bad name, but this increasingly is par for the course with public Republican figures.

A million fewer children have health care, thanks to Trump

**** Republicans and Trump.

The Lynching remark seems to have ignited a fire storm with it obvious racial overtones.
I know that all lynchings in the US were not racially motivated....most of those in the Old West were whites lynching whites...but the lynching of blacks by white mobs in the South is what most people think of when the term is used, and Donnie damn well knew this.
It's also one of coded shout outs to his White Nationalist followers.
We have a President of the US who is not only a bigot but uses bigotry as a political weapon.
And the Trump supporters on this site see nothing wrong with that.

Possibly because complaints about it are hypocritical. The term was used to defend Bill Clinton against Republican impeachment, by some of the same people now complaining about Trump using it.

Plenty of people here on this forum have used the term to describe what they consider unfair partisanship, without any seeming care for all the historic baggage you refer to, and nobody seems to bat an eye.

I remember when Trump Jr. caught a bunch of flack for using a metaphor of poison skittles to describe the risk of terrorist infiltration of refugees. There were all sorts of accusations about how dehumanizing the metaphor was. Except it was the exact same metaphor that feminists had long used to describe the risk of sexual assault and rape from men.

It's almost as if Trump knows how the term has been used before, and knows that the response will reveal the hypocrisy of his critics. It doesn't work to have one speech code for Trump and one for yourself.

It's not hypocritical, since no Democratic President ever called it a lynching.

Too bad some people don't want to hold Trump to any standards whatsoever.

Trump Tweets

Good news seems to be happening with respect to Turkey, Syria and the Middle East. Further reports to come later!

Trump's tweet on Syria referred to this

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-middle-east-50138121

Turkey and Russia have agreed what they say is a "historic" deal aimed at keeping Kurdish forces away from Syria's border with Turkey.

Under the deal, Syrian and Russian forces will immediately oversee a withdrawal of Kurdish forces.

The deal sets out plans for joint Turkish-Russian patrols along the border next week.

So the good news in Turkey and Russia are now partners.

Wrong, never even discussed this with Kellyanne Conway or Steve Mnuchin. Just more Fake News!

Your excuse of hypocrisy is that there is supposed to be a double standard? Yeah, no.

The whole Ukraine thing is insane. Taylor's testimony is detailed, credible and damning.

And isn't it comically hilarious that Giuliani's associates are using Paul Manafort's lawyer to defend themselves?

Sounds like he's Deep State.

Notice he didn't say "not being considered". He doesn't have to discuss with Conway or Mnuchin... they'll both take on any position he tells them to. With the apparent high level of the "leakers" he may be discussing or floating trial balloons with his trusted cohorts like Mercer or Hannity or Miller or Carlson. I'm pretty sure all personnel moves have to go through Miller, anyway.

Neither he (Taylor) or any other witness has provided testimony that the Ukrainians were aware that military aid was being withheld. You can’t have a quid pro quo with no quo.” Congressman John Ratcliffe @foxandfriends Where is the Whistleblower? The Do Nothing Dems case is DEAD!

Republicans are going to fight harder than ever to win back the House because of what the Do Nothing Democrats have done to our Country!

Young campus Conservatives are flocking to Turning Point USA & other Conservative speaker events all over the Country, AND IN RECORD NUMBERS. Thousands of students are turning out. “I just want to compliment the President of the United States for signing that historic Executive..

....Order a couple of months ago saying that any school that does not uphold the First Amendment Rights of its students will lose Federal Funding. We have seen a huge change in how the Universities interact with us as a national & local student organization. Our studends....

....feel EMPOWERED. There’s a movement happening on these campuses like I’ve never seen before. When you have 3000 students wanting to get into an event that couldn’t get in, that’s pretty remarkable!” @charliekirk11 Turning Point USA KEEP AMERICA GREAT!

Agree with Ziggurat.

Before I read his response, I had mentally prepared a similar one. I read it that using the lynching metaphor is bad because the President did it. The implication, stated or otherwise, is it’s not so bad for anyone else to use it.

This back and forth is a good example of both whataboutism and goalpost moving,

Did he just admit that military aid was being withheld?

And then he wants to prosecute the Press for publishing unflattering articles about him.
