The Trump Presidency: Part 17

Just heard a co worker make this comment:

"If there is an anti Trump lynch mob, where the hell do I join?".

I would imagine there are diplomatic cables for some of it? Am I not understanding those correctly?

I genuinely don't know, but it seems to me that Sondland at least tried to keep from written discussions. I don't see why the administration would use diplomatic cables (if these really are still in use) to do something like this. They seemed to work to keep the details hidden, despite Guiliani's loud mouth.

In another thread, there is discusion of why David Duke -- who endorsed Trump in 2016 -- is endorsing Tulsi Gabbard in 2020. Gabbard, currently polling at around 1%, rejects Duke's support but Duke doesn't care. Ironically, some on the far right, including Duke, see Gabbard as the next best alternative to Donnie. They are beginning to reject Trump. This is from Duke's website.

The fact of the matter is that the American people already voted to end these crazy regime change wars and the New Cold War with Russia when they elected Donald Trump in 2016. However, Donald Trump, at least until last week, had not proven himself effective at implementing the will of the people to bring our troops home. Link to David Duke dot com

The photo below is from Duke's website:

Keep in mind that one of Trump's made-up complaints is how the impeachment is being done "in secret". If he were being honest, he would actually prefer things to be done behind closed doors, since showing such testimony in public would be more damaging to Trump.

He needn't worry. I think it's safe to say that nothing which goes on behind those particular closed doors will stay secret for very long.

:D

Normally record keeping laws require them, but a lot of these communications were encrypted on WhatsApp, in open violation of the exact laws they wanted Hillary locked up for that she was just cleared, again, of violating.

It's another proof that Trump allies are utterly dishonest in basically all their arguments. They only cared about getting Hillary and cared nothing for the law itself.

Perhaps. But it still won't matter to the Senate Republicans.

I guess they will argue it's not enough to remove an elected President from office for.
I think the Dems know chances for convinction in the Senate were always small. what they hope is that the political damage it does to Trump is enormous, and they can argue in 2020 that he was guilty but let off by a fixed jury.

There are quite a few GOP Senators who don't want to have to vote on this. It's going to damage them, fetter them to Trump, to do so. And they're in places where they can't win with just their base.

It isn't all about damaging Trump; it's about making the GOP own their mess.

Also, did I hear right that Trump said he'd have made billions if he didn't run for President?

I don't know about that. He seems to lose billions far more readily.
A week ago he said he had added TRILLIONS to the federal coffers.
Just how freaking' big IS our economy?

The Lynching remark seems to have ignited a fire storm with it obvious racial overtones.
I know that all lynchings in the US were not racially motivated....most of those in the Old West were whites lynching whites...but the lynching of blacks by white mobs in the South is what most people think of when the term is used, and Donnie damn well knew this.
It's also one of coded shout outs to his White Nationalist followers.
We have a President of the US who is not only a bigot but uses bigotry as a political weapon.
And the Trump supporters on this site see nothing wrong with that.

First - apparently, even lynchings are easier for white people in the US apparently. They didn't even chop up his fingers to keep the knuckles as souvenirs!

Second - Um, not surprised. Toupee Fiasco's both a white supremacist and a ignoramus, this sort of crap is what I'd expect him to say.

Remember that op-ed from an anonymous White House insider who professed to be trying to thwart Trump from within? This person has a book coming out in a few weeks. The author is said to be...
donating any royalties to nonprofit organizations that focus on government accountability and press freedom
... removing profit motive.

If that's the case then he's acting like a pre-teen, which sure matches his vocabulary.

(watches)

Anyway I've seen the video now and I'm still not convinced it was intentional on his part. I don't know, it doesn't match his usual style.

I remain open on the question, but only to the extent that if he did not mean the gesture as it rather clearly appears, then he's even more stupid than we thought. This is another one of those choices we seem to see over and over these days: either he's inexcusably impolite or such a demented moron he doesn't know what he's doing. This is one of those times I kind of wish theprestige would be right, as he seems to believe it's harmless to have such an idiot as our president. I don't think it is, but I wish it were.

Who cares about profit motive? They are publicly trying to rationalize working for a dumpster fire because Trump gets them conservative wins like tax breaks. That describes practically every conservative in both branches of government, but this one is trying to act like a philosopher or hero for being complicit. It's obvious that they are failing at limiting Trump's worst actions.

Didn't your mommy ever tell you not to pick up things when you don't know where they've been?

Everything with The PDJT is "a record" this, "a record" that. I'd love to see the Trump Book of Records someday.

It sounds phenomenally stupid when he claims it for every rally.
