The Trump Presidency: Part 17

And Mar a Lago charges the Secret Service for a dozen rooms and 2 dozen golf karts to protect the President plus of course food and other assorted items. Trump use to rant about Obama playing golf saying he wouldn't be playing golf he was President.

But not only does Trump play more golf than Obama he plays 5 times as much. And he almost always does it on courses that he owns so the cost gets diverted back into his own pocket. I would love to see a detailed audit of the President's businesses and how much the government and businesses or countries trying to curry favor with the President are contributing.

Do we know for a fact that he charges Secret Service for staying at his own property?

A new report from the Government Accountability Office says four such trips early on in Trump's presidency cost taxpayers $13.6 million, or some $3.4 million each. That is far higher than the estimates of Trump's travel costs early in his presidency, which were pegged at about $1 million per trip.

Wow, this is so different than Nixon. When the walls were closing in on Nixon, he hunkered down and really isolated himself. Trump is having a full tilt meltdown in front of the whole world.

He's addicted to those rallies where the Deplorables cheer for him. He needs that like most of us need oxygen. He gets to release all of his built-up anger and frustration while soaking up all the love.

As of August, Politifact lists this as True, donating every quarterly salary so far to a government program or agency.

(In order)

- The National Parks
- Department of Education
- The Veterans Administration
- The Small Business Administration
- The USDA.

Big deal. Trump has spent the equivalent of 283 years of Presidential salary on golf. He also at the same time awards contracts to his own business as well as selling business space to foreign governments and businesses that are trying to curry favor. Often at inflated rates.

It's just a business expense to him.

He probably deducts for it twice, once as a charitable deduction, and once as part of his PR budget.

I get that. But I also wonder if his public doesn't wonder why there aren't actual investigations.

Maybe they don't because they know he's full of **** but support him anyway.

These are the low-information people. Trump says it; they believe it. Now, are the fish biting down at Swampy Creek. There's not only no follow up, the base doesn't care that there's no follow up.

BTW, that's also why his lies are not damaging. He's always saying something else that's stupid and the base follows along. Five minutes ago? Who gives a ***?

The worst part is seeing just how much he loves the sound of his own voice. He can't get enough of himself rambling on.
Unfortunately the media is too kind to him, I've noticed they will when reporting on say a speech at a rally edit parts of his speech so they seem to have a narrative and so on. When you go back to the unedited source it is usually quite a shock to see how much of his performance is incoherent and rambling nonsense.

Though his spelling and grammar is atrocious, might it be that he has a much larger working vocabulary that he lets on? Perhaps the “dumbed down”, generally elementary school vocabulary is an intentional affectation.

Or not.
I don't think he does. If you listen to him speaking 20 years ago he is much more coherant and less likely to ramble and lose the thread of what he is trying to say, but there is no indication that he ever had a vocabulary that was full to the brim of sesquipedalian words.

As a cosponsor of the resolution to censure Rep. Adam Schiff, I was disappointed Nancy Pelosi did not even allow a vote on the House floor tonight. We need transparency and accountability, not closed door secret meetings. What are they afraid of the American people seeing?

It is disappointing that House Democrats blocked a vote to condemn and censure Chairman Adam Schiff for lying to the American people. The full House of Representatives should have the chance to hold him accountable for his actions. @RepAndyBiggsAZ's H.Res. 630 deserves a vote.

Tonight, I joined @SteveScalise, @RepAndyBiggsAZ, & @HouseGOP in voting to censure Rep. Adam Schiff.

Of course, Democrats blocked the measure in the House. Chairman Schiff’s dishonesty & lack of transparency with the American people will likely continue.

Adam Schiff has eliminated the access Republican HPSCI members have & has locked down depositions in a manner that is an abuse of his “Chairmanship” & degrades what’s left of his standing as a House member. His actions will forever be a pox on this committee. #TotalSchiffShow

I know Americans are generally supposed to be bad at recognising irony but surely Trump railing against the lies and lack of accountability of, well, anyone else on the planet, must register on everyone's meter?

OK I know whataboutery is not proof of anything much but how many bills and actions has the Turtle blocked in the Senate? Oh right, he is a Republican and this was a Democrat...

At this point the entire Trump administration just seems like an ironic joke that went on too long.
