The Trump Presidency: Part 17

"We'll see what happens," is not so bad. It increases the percentage of true statements he makes.
Which has no inherent value. It's true by virtue of not being false. What it reveals, of course, is that Trump hasn't got a clue about whatever the subject is. Which is to say, pretty much any subject.

Exactly. He just opens his mouth and lets whatever's rambling around in his head spew forth.

Think about it. Was there any reason whatsoever for that conference than to assuage Trump's widdle ego? Clearly the crossed arms is a clue.
I've never been sure how scientific the body language field is. That's a good point about his ego. I'm so used to him doing stuff like this that it never occurred to me to ask what the point was supposed to be.

Trump said:
I'm very, very good at real estate. Much better than you understand.
This is from his spectacularly unhinged cabinet meeting, in defense of Doral. It strikes me as funny.

It can be subjective. There are those who swear by it (you'll find many 'expert' videos on the internet) but then those that say there are too many human variables for it to be a true science. I agree with the latter. Humans are too complex. Crossed arms may be a sign of defensiveness; but they may also just be a comfortable position.

I imagine the money the WH and secret service staff spend at Mar-a-lago on Trump trips pays more than his salary.
In 30 months he's probably saved Trump Inc. $10 million in jet fuel for his golf outings.
Doral will sit at 35% occupancy for June, July and August, just like every year (its freakin' S Florida)... filling it with the G7 for two weeks would have put a couple three million into the property's account. Don't tell me he "won't profit" from this Mick.

Every day is Festivus. Every day, every meeting no matter the agenda, every captive audience is one more opportunity to air grievances, petty and otherwise.

Yes, it is. If it’s in response to a question, it gives zero information.

“Does that mean you still intend to impose additional tariffs, and, if so, is there any concrete action the EU can take to avoid them?”

“We’ll see what happens”.

What have you learned from that response? Nothing. Hence, it IS that bad.

Edited to add: pretty much a restatement of what CapelDodger wrote above.

No information, but still a true statement is a nice surprise.

Though his spelling and grammar is atrocious, might it be that he has a much larger working vocabulary that he lets on? Perhaps the “dumbed down”, generally elementary school vocabulary is an intentional affectation.

Or not.
I think you're probably right - he dumbs it down at rallies but still has some big words learned before the brain damage set in.

I imagine the money the WH and secret service staff spend at Mar-a-lago on Trump trips pays more than his salary.

And Mar a Lago charges the Secret Service for a dozen rooms and 2 dozen golf karts to protect the President plus of course food and other assorted items. Trump use to rant about Obama playing golf saying he wouldn't be playing golf he was President.

But not only does Trump play more golf than Obama he plays 5 times as much. And he almost always does it on courses that he owns so the cost gets diverted back into his own pocket. I would love to see a detailed audit of the President's businesses and how much the government and businesses or countries trying to curry favor with the President are contributing.

It's filler. He doesn't have much to say and takes forever to say it. I did wonder if he did it on purpose to induce a trance in viewers, but I think it's mostly filler to compensate for the fact that he doesn't know much. He used the word "excorciated" which was kind of a stunner. Maybe someone is teaching him some big words.

Did he say it like that, or is it a typo? (It's "excoriated".)

I only make note because it's only in the last year that I learned the proper word when somebody said it. I always read it as "exorciated". Like in "exorcist".

My guess is he'd never heard the word before last week, and now likes to use it, like "collusion".

Here's a link. Go to where he begins to take questions. You may have to turn up the volume high.

Usual nonsense, like where he says, "I was against the Iraq war, you remember, but I said, if you're going to do it, get the oil. Get the oil."

First, Trump wasn't against the war. As this exchange with Howard Stern on Sept. 11, 2002 shows:
STERN: Are you for invading Iraq?
TRUMP: Yeah, I guess so. You know, I wish the first time it was done correctly. Link

Second, get the oil? The United States should have what? Seized the Iraqi oil fields and declared them U.S. property? Of course, I believe he said that. It's exactly the kind of mindless stupidity I would expect from Donnie Boy. ;)

Russia and Hungary told Trump what to think about Ukraine:
President Trump’s effort to pressure Ukraine for information he could use against political rivals came as he was being urged to adopt a hostile view of that country by its regional adversaries, including Russian President Vladi*mir Putin, current and former U.S. officials said.

Trump’s conversations with Putin, Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban and others reinforced his perception of Ukraine as a hopelessly corrupt country — one that Trump now also appears to believe sought to undermine him in the 2016 U.S. election, the officials said.
