The Trump Presidency: Part 17

Surely it's a reason they are recorded. There's a real need for secrecy, but an even greater need for documenting exactly what was said.

I recall that folks who would know from previous administrations are the source of the claim that these calls are not recorded. I tend to believe them, barring evidence otherwise.

Trump is certainly not one to introduce a rule that his conversations should be recorded.

Nixon's presidency got nuked because his law breaking office conversations were recorded. The takeaway for future presidents is, of course, to get rid of the recorder rather than the law breaking.

It makes perfect sense for calls with foreign officials to be recorded and transcribed so that State, Intellegence, and Policy groups can move in the same direction.

Nixon couldn't manage to turn the recorder on and off consistently, so they set up voice activated recording that by it's nature and implementation also recorded office conversation. It is now trivially easy to record only telephone conversations without recording office conversation.

Acting White House chief of staff Mick Mulvaney, asked about the original choice of President Donald Trump's private Miami golf resort to host next year's Group of Seven summit, said Sunday that Trump "still considers himself to be in the hospitality business.
Cue scene from Troll 2:

Trump Tweets

“The President never told me to withhold any money until the Ukrainians did anything related to the server. The only reason we were holding the money was because of concern about LACK OF SUPPORT FROM OTHER NATIONS and CONCERNS OVER CORRUPTION.” Yesterday’s Mick Mulvaney statement

I'm 100% certain that other nations have concerns over corruption. It's pretty flipping obvious that Trump is corrupt.

Wait a minute... Mulvaney already said they had a list - why do they need to begin a search?
Because the list was Doral plus some other places they pulled out of their collective arses.

1. The Taco Bell on Lexington Avenue in NY (probably too small).

2. Turnberry (convenient for the airport but outside the USA)

3. McDonalds, 17th Street North West in Washington DC (actually this was Trump's first pick, but it closes at 10pm).

4. Doral

5. The Taj Mahal in Atlantic City (wait, what do you mean the owner bankrupted it?)

I actually see this as significantly good news. Why? Because it indicates that Trump is feeling vulnerable. It indicates that there are cracks in his "I could shoot somebody in the middle of 5th Avenue" perception.

That's good, because it indicates that he genuinely thinks he's in trouble.

My guess is that enough Republicans called and said, "Are you ******* nuts?"

US troops leaving Syria will go to Iraq, says Pentagon chief

All US troops withdrawing from northern Syria are expected to be relocated to western Iraq, Secretary of Defense Mark Esper confirmed.

Mr Esper told reporters that, under current plans, about 1,000 soldiers would be redeployed to help stop the resurgence of Islamic State (IS).

President Donald Trump has previously pledged to bring US troops home.

It's an odd world when a story about a president committing bank and tax fraud is half-way down the splash page. It seems the Stupid Bitch in Chief has been telling banks one thing about his occupancy rates when he needs a loan and then telling the IRS and New York tax authorities something else.

It is.

Trump has more scandals in one day than the last 5 Presidents combined.

I really want him to wear a tan suit next.
