Just saw clips of Trump ridiculing Abraham Lincoln at that rally at Nuremberg .excuse me ,Texas last night.
So now the leader of the Party which has always claimed as it's greatest pride it was the Party of Lincoln is turning on Lincoln. Not surprised,
Trump probably hates Honest Abe because Lincoln pretty much heads every list of the Greatest US Presidents and Trump thinks he deserves the head spot.

Trump said that he would never be as presidential as "Honest Abe Lincoln when he's wearing the hat," but he went on to say that in order to be presidential, "all you have to do is act like a stiff." He proceeded to act out a stiff, buttoning his blazer and speaking in a monotonous voice into the microphone.

That is literally the only 'imitation' he can manage.

I've never been a big fan of being the world's policeman either. Especially when you consider what the US spends on its military.

That said, the way Trump has gone about US foreign policy is penny wise and pound moronic. The US has spent probably 20 billion dollars over a decade eliminating ISIS in Syria if not more.
Most of our forces were gone already except for maybe 2000 special forces in Syria. It was a cheap investment to maintain stability. And Trump just pissed away those billions to save pennies.

That said, the way Trump has gone about US foreign policy is penny wise and pound moronic. The US has spent probably 20 billion dollars over a decade eliminating ISIS in Syria if not more.
Most of our forces were gone already except for maybe 2000 special forces in Syria. It was a cheap investment to maintain stability. And Trump just pissed away those billions to save pennies.

And we will probably have to spend BIllions to repair the situation.
Problem is, the world needs a policeman, and the US seems to be the only country with the sheer military muscle to do the job.
I am all in favor or eliminating waste and overspending in the Military, but not in reducing to the point where the US is weak Militarily. We don't need a repeat of the "Hollow Military" of the 70's. Even Jimmy Carter relised in the last year of his presidency that the cuts in the military had gone too far, and begun increasing military budgets.
I rfepeat, Isolationism and trying to stand apart from the worldl;s problems does not work, period. Isolationsim is a bad idea, both left and right wing varieties.

I've been fed up with Facebook for a long time. Not due to politics, really. I'm fact my somewhat alt-right nephew posted or re-posted an item called "Why I'm done with Facebook." Lately he's been on it, though, so someone must have told him it's cool again. He doesn't strike me as an independent thinker. I feel a little mean saying that but I'm pretty sure it's true.

But that massive military costs America a lot in the way of other benefits. Such as healthcare for all Americans and maintaining an infrastructure that is crumbling.

Take a trip to Europe and China to see shiny new train stations and airports. Bullet trains, subways and spectacular highways and bridges. The US use to have the greatest transportation system on the planet. Now it is rivaled by third world countries.
