The Trump Presidency: Part 17

It's total B.S.
Trump has no understanding of the Middle East whatsoever.

Sure he does, look at all the money he helps them hide and launder, and how he helps them kill their dissidents and reporters. As long as one understands his goals it is a pretty fair understanding compared to say W.

So there's a "consensus" that the impeachment will "backfire" on the Democrats. Because that totally hurt the opposing party the other times. So much that they won the White House.

trump tweets:

"As I have stated strongly before, and just to reiterate, if Turkey does anything that I, in my great and unmatched wisdom, consider to be off limits, I will totally destroy and obliterate the Economy of Turkey (I’ve done before!). They must, with Europe and others, watch over...
....the captured ISIS fighters and families. The U.S. has done far more than anyone could have ever expected, including the capture of 100% of the ISIS Caliphate. It is time now for others in the region, some of great wealth, to protect their own territory. THE USA IS GREAT!"

yeah, you guys are great.

So people hear him talk as if he thinks he is the great and powerful Oz and still maintain that this guy is not suffering from some mental disorder or condition.

I know it has been said thousands of times before, but this is not going to end well.

I love Donnie's attempts to show how pulling out of Syria is somehow sticking it to Putin.
Hmmm.... Trump announces withdrawal from Syria on October 7th on his Twitter feed.

Putin has his birthday on October 7th.

Co-incidence? I think not.

Paul Krugman lists 3 reasons for Trump's decision on Syria.none of them good"
1. He has business interests in Turkey and hopes for favors from Erdogan.
2. Erdogan is a right wing dictator, Trump's kind of guy.
3, Just doing what his boss Putin is telling him to do.

How would his Saudi ties fit into those as well?

I don't think that's ever been tested. One senator (or congressman?) was expelled and impeached the same time. Since both acts have the same effect, the impeachment was not tested in court.

But you're right that impeachment in the Constitution seems to exclude the legislative branch.

This is from a half remembered article somewhere.

The House and Senate have their own process for removal.

The Senate has concluded that members of Congress (Representatives and Senators) are not "civil officers" for purposes of impeachment.[13] As a practical matter, expulsion is effected by the simpler procedures of Article I, Section 5, which provides "Each House shall be the Judge of the Elections, Returns and Qualifications of its own Members ... Each House may determine the Rules of its Proceedings, punish its Members for disorderly Behaviour, and, with the Concurrence of two thirds, expel a Member."

It seems that the State department and the Pentagon say there is no major shift in US policy; that only a handful of US troops have been pulled back for their own safety, fearing some Turkish move. And they insist that this administration, including the president, stands firmly against any further Turkish move across the border.

Great now we have a coup by the military for refusing to follow their orders from their commander in chief.
