I so hope Romney keeps this up. I had hopes for Ron Johnson but now I’m not so sure. He said explicitly that the ambassador to the EU told him the Trump administration had linked the military aid to the Biden/corruption request.

Where would the ambassador have gotten that impression? Johnson is now floating non-denial denials. (Trump told Johnson he would never do that.) Pompeo must have done a crap job explaining the policy to the diplomat.

Romney’s stance is really pretty ballsy IMO.

I do too. But why not? What does he really have to lose? He's got 5 more years on his Senate term. I doubt Utah would kick him out and he's not going to be impeached. I also doubt other Republicans would go after him.
 
And another thing: has *anyone* seriously echoed strong calls for an investigation into Biden/Ukraine? Maybe Pence, but are senators saying that?

It's hilarious to me. He seems to be under some kind of impression that hurting his feelings is an impeachable offense. I swear Trump is dumb as a post.

The sicko, brain-dead thing in the WH would have been smarter to just call sour grapes on Romney, but I bet he's forgotten it ever happened.

Of course, this was the ‘just after the election’ period when, for a tiny little moment it looked like maybe Trump wasn’t going to be the utter disaster he turned into as he was listening to people and toning down some of the dangerous rhetoric.

Like I said, brief period.

Right after the election there was some kind of exchange with Romney acting nice to Trump. But it was very short lived before Romney called bull **** on Trump's offer.

Educated guess: Trump probably asked Romney to publicly kiss Trump's fat ass and Romney declined.

Interesting. But Romney should have seen right through that and maybe he did. After the election Trump appeared as if was making nice with everyone. If I recall he even said nice things about Hillary and Obama. Trump holds grudges. No way was he ever going to make Romney Secretary of State.
