A decade ago had urethral stent put in me for a few hours.

Recovery time was just a few hours. Apparently the recovery time for the cardiac procedure isn't much longer.

Bernie will live.

Does it involve being rendered unconscious by a general anesthetic and thus temporarily invoking the 25th? About 300 million brain stems are wondering that right now and there's nothing you or I or anyone else can really do about that.

ETA: I mean even if not, it's not like you want a President laying there during procedure and someone has to tell them WW3 has started. I bet that will both complicate the procedure (when a sudden spike of adrenaline hits) and there's still little they could do to effectively command the situation unless the operating room was upgraded so that it can serve as a secure communications center (could have a negative impact on the sterile environment thing...).

IMHO a lot. His electability in November quotient has just fell off a cliff...and all Democratic voters but the Berniebots will be closely looking at that.
No one really wanted to talk about Bernie's being 78 years old, but not his age..and his health...are a real issue, even if the other Caindidates don' t talk about it.

Yup. I think it likely that most of his rational supporters will switch to Warren, making her the odds-on favorite.

Jesus, DC, get a grip. If the prez has a significant medical procedure the machinery to put the VP in charge would be well oiled and already in place.

His slogan should be:

“I had heart surgery and have great healthcare - this should be everyone’s right!”

I'd like to think he's smart enough to see this as a superb way to bow out with pride intact. (and hopefully anoint Liz as his preferred nominee)

It has happened 3 times. For planned procedures.

Besides, the larger point is now getting missed. These are not problems you want to have to deal with at all, no matter how well thought-out the plan is. Right or wrong, people will now worry about it.
 
Ronald Reagan got shot in the middle of cold war tensions and it didn't kick of an international crisis. I think we'll be alright if President Bernie gets the vapors.

Holy cow, though I guess you can attribute some of that to independents or conservatives who are on the Bernie train, but those were some serious numbers, something like 25% of 2019 Sanders supporters? I don't know if I believe it.

Going by the actual polling, at last check... Biden was the most preferred secondary candidate of the Bernie crowd, contrary to the MSM narrative. Bernie and Warren seem to appeal most to different demographics, even if there are notable similarities there.
