The Trump Presidency: Sweet/Sweat 16

Transcript breaking right now. Shows Trump told Ukraine he has "been very, very good to them" and then asks for "favor". Breaking now.

Irrelevant. Both Trump and his on call troll brigade will just argue since he didn't use the exact words "I, President Donald Trump, am asking you, the foreign country of Ukraine, to perform this action solely for the sole purpose of illegal and evil benefit of my own political career, I do solemnly swear. I make this statement of my own free will. I'm Donald Trump and I approve that message" along with a notarized transcript and a picture of Trump giving Ukraine a cartoonishly oversized novelty check with "To Screw the Biden Campaign" written in the "For" comment part, it doesn't technically count.

If we hold the impeachment on the National Mall he might even really break Obama's inaugration crowd size this time.

Hell put it on PPV. Make it event at Wrestlemania. Put a dent in the National Debt.

Viewership would beat the moon landing, the Berlin Wall falling, and Janet Jackson's nipple combined if he really swung for the fences with a Budd Dwyer.

Sadly, you may very well be right :(

This “whistleblower” was found by the Intelligence Community IG to have a political bias against @POTUS @realDonaldTrump and supports one of his opponents in the 2020 race. You. Don’t. Say. #Hannity

Mark Meadows
@RepMarkMeadows
POTUS says he's releasing the full transcript of the Ukraine call, and amazingly Democrats now say the whistleblower complaint is more important
Folks, the 'whistleblower' wasn't on the call
They think a secondhand account of the call will tell you more than the *actual call*

Rep. Doug Collins
@RepDougCollins
Speaker Pelosi’s decree changes absolutely nothing. As I have been telling Chairman Nadler for weeks, merely claiming the House is conducting an impeachment inquiry doesn’t make it so. Until the full House votes to authorize an inquiry, nobody is conducting a formal inquiry.

Which has no bearing on the content of the transcript.

For what it's worth, of course he doesn't support Trump. Otherwise he would've kept the wrongdoing secret.

Which means you need separate evidence of motive. Good luck with that. He doesnt email, read, or write. That is a complication.

I haven't read anything that makes Trump look any worse than normal in the transcript, but I have been taking third hand accounts too.

I don't think this is going to be as big of a deal as it was made out to be.

They've successfully turned "bias" into a meaningless term so they can dismiss anyone who opposes them as biased against them.

"Even before the transcript was released, journalists and national security experts warned that the transcript released would not be a verbatim readout of the conversation."

The Guardian rolling coverage. I'd include a link but it's, like, rolling :)

He doesn't support trump because likely he is a post graduate. They supported Clinton over trump 58-37.

He'd miss.

That would be one hell of a legal case: does the Secret Service have to protect a president from himself? Possibly with deadly force? They'd shoot anyone else who was shooting at him, logically if he himself fell into that category they'd have a duty to fire on him!

It reminds me of this webcomic about the difference between bribery and lobbying
.
"I will give you "x" if you do "y" for me" is bribery.
"I will give you "x" because I like you. If you don't do "y", I'll stop liking you" is lobbying.

In this case, it's more like the difference between extortion and diplomacy.

"Do you know the Secret Service won't help you commit suicide even if you ask them? They just stand there looking like they don't even know what to believe in anymore." - George Bush to Barack Obama in "The Red Phone" webcomic.

So, it is not a transcript.

Well, I guess we can add transcript to the list of words that President Trump has redefined.

A lot of people are calling it a transcript. But it's really notes transcribed after the the fact. We have no way to know what might have been omitted or revised.

The real question is why a presidential conversation with a foreign leader is not recorded. I would think that would be essential, for the president's protection if nothing else. You don't want Putin etc. claiming the president said something he didn't.
