Yes I added realistic. As mentioned it it what departments are assuming and working towards. While the EU could nuke us and that would be pretty bad (understatement) no department is working on nuclear shelters.

This is nothing like the idea of the EU nuking us. This is what the government thinks is likely to happen.

Also monumentally pointless, given that the unredacted version had already been leaked, and was sure to be revealed as soon as the redacted version was released. I'm trying to figure out why they thought it was worthy of a so easily removed figleaf.

Distraction from the fact that this is not the detailed documentation required by Parliament?

We know that the DfT has a 37 page document, for example.

Johnson getting ever more Trumpian? My bolding :

"It is very important to understand what this document is. This is a worst-case scenario which civil servants obviously have to prepare for. But in the last few months, and particularly in the 50 days since I’ve been prime minister, we’ve been massively accelerating our preparations."

Problem is by "massively accelerating preparations" he means he's cut the brakes as we rush towards the cliff edge.

No. Not necessarily likely.

Put it this way:- Weather

The government have said it will be sunny.

They actually think it will actually be overcast.

Operation yellowhammer is preparing for the reasonable worst case which is rain

Gvt departments are currently out buying umbrellas with the hope they won't need them.

No the government is SAYING that the plans are for a storm while they are actually for a bit of drizzle. And everyone knows it is going to rain!

Why do you think the queen cannot refuse assent?

Because nearly every source I find when I Google that question says she cannot. When I bring it up here nearly everyone says she cannot.

Whether I think she can or not, for purposes of this discussion, I'm accepting that position (I'm not claiming she cannot).

Well let me assure you that she can if she really needs to.

In any case it's still constitutionally a big deal to lie to the Queen. High treason probably. Lucky for BoJo we are in the EU and had to scrap the death penalty for that.

And most people disagree with you. That doesn't mean you are wrong. I just want you to know.

I'm going by what the documents have said and what leakers have said, rather than by what the people who have just had a court unanimously rule that they lied to the queen are saying. Anonymous sources aren't the most reliable of sources, but I'll definitely take their word over Gove, Johnson, Rees-Mogg, etc.

It's been confirmed by the Scottish Government that the title of the document has changed from base case to worst case in between in being first distributed and now being made public.

No doubt the government will have a reason for this that will be swallowed up by the usual suspects, but we all know what the truth is.

FTFY.
