Cont: Brexit: Now What? Magic 8 Ball's up

The Conservative members of Wyld Bird Seed are both "soft" Remainers (not thrilled about the EU, but reluctantly accept that it's in the UK's economic interests to stay in). That said, both would rather crash out with no deal than have Jeremy Corbyn as PM.
That makes no sense.
Jeremy Corbyn is constitutionally temporary, but Brexit permanent.
Bird brains?

She never should have been in Boris's cabinet. She must have lied when she signed up to his "leave on Halloween, no ifs no buts" requirement. Good riddance.
You seem to have missed the fact that Johnson campaigned to become party leader on the bases that he could negotiate a better deal than his government's previous deal. You seem to be berating her for believing that Johnson was being truthful.

Sunday Express is reporting that Boris will 'sabotage' and 'paralyse' the EU if he doesn't get his exit
Apparently he will use the EU’s own rules to bring it to a standstill from November 1 unless the deadlock on Brexit is ended. and that “I refuse to accept Corbyn’s pointless delay.” and vowed to *simply “carry on” if Corbyn again blocks an election.
This seems like it'd be a better fit for the Brexit thread.

The tone of this is beginning to sound very like that row Johnson had with his girlfriend. We're seeing the real Johnson now, petulant and entitled and unable to cope when someone simply says 'no' to him.

Well to be fair being stupid enough to assume Boris Johnson would keep his word should probably rule someone out of a cabinet position.

Veto everything.

Edited to add.....

Sorry I was wrong. He wil fail to appoint a commissioner which means that the European commission cannot sit.

This could indeed be a good mean to convince the EU not to extend the deadline after 31 October (or after 31 January 2020, should a new extension be granted) and get a hard Brexit.

But Johnson need to stay as Prime Minister till then and this is far from granted.

He may not yet be dead in a ditch (he might rather finish hanged at a light pole when UK people will realize what disaster he has caused) but he already looks pretty much politically dead.

All of this shows just how ineffective Labour is at the moment. Not just Corbyn, but the Labour shadow cabinet and the party in general.

If they had an effective leader, a clear policy over Brexit and had sorted the anti-Semitism asap, support would be flocking to them.

Sajid Javid on TV today.

‘We will both obey and contravene the Law simultaneously.’

What is this — Schrödinger’s Cabinet?

He's boasting that the government will find a way to break the law without technically breaking it. It's propaganda designed to make people used to the idea that the law will not succeed in stopping no-deal Brexit, so that when the government does break the law, it won't matter if they did it technically or flagrantly.

So? You have said you accept politicians lying before, like about every promise the Brexit camp made, why complain about this?

If we haven't left the EU on November 1st, I doubt that Johnson will be prime minister for long enough to do any serious damage.

Well given how well their previous schemes have worked Javid will probably wind up as Johnson's cell mate.

The last leadership election took yonks. Is his plan to resign so there is no PM to ask for an extension

If he resigns, all the opposition has to do is have a vote of no confidence and then form an interim government to force through the extension. In fact, they can do that if he doesn't resign.

At least we now know what is really going on and the fight is a clear one between two distinct sides about leaving on the 31st.

Trying to find a deal is now on hold, which is probably a relief for Parliament, as they can get a break from trying to figure out how to solve the impossible.

But it hasn't done anything. Remember Tusk granting the extention and warning that the UK should concentrate every minute into having a deal by 31 October?

What has happened since then? A silly Tory leadership contest and a long recess and now a prorogation. In sum since 29 March, the original 'leaving date' the UK has immediately done...like Squatter and the Ant... precisely nothing.

And that will be its undoing.

Wow. I note your only comment after four-and-a-half-days is complaining that someone isn't sufficiently pro-Brexit; no mention of the constitutional issues of BoJo's behaviour, the largest expulsion of sitting MPs from a party in UK history, BoJo losing every votes he's tried et cetera.

BREAKING: Guy Verhofstadt has sent out this tweet in the last half hour:

Foreign Minister Le Drian is right: yet another extension for Brexit is unacceptable, unless the deadlock in London is broken. Let it be a 2nd ref., new elections, a revocation of art. 50 or the approval of the deal, but not today’s helpless status quo

France says, 'Non'.

The Netherlands says: 'Nee'.

Russia says, niet, niet.

And then parliament will pass an act that says he has to appoint one....

Provided the speaker continues to allow the opposition to bring legislation to the house to be voted I suppose yes.

Of course the tactic here more likely is to threaten things which he thinks might make the EU not extend the deadline. If it actually became a reality he would no doubt just have to go along with it because he doesn't want to make an enemy of the EU any more than he already has when he KNOWS he needs a trade deal.
