The Trump Presidency: Sweet/Sweat 16

Mmm. I wonder what the list of impeachable offenses is up to. Looks like Democrats are set to hold a vote to officially start an impeachment inquiry next week.

Either way, after the NOAA attempt to denounce the NWS for accurately informing the population of Alabama about their Dorian risk at that point, they should likely be also looking at whether Trump had a hand in that or if it was just yet another of the nigh insane amount of wildly inappropriate actions taken by Trump's appointees.

Also, well... “Trump to Ukraine: No Aid Unless You Smear Joe Biden”

This is absurdly corrupt, and, like so many of the other things Trump has done, would be valid grounds for removal all by itself.

Incidentally... China Investing $400 billion and 5000 troops in Iran

Good job, Trump!

The Failing New York Times stated, in an article written by Obama flunky Peter Baker (who lovingly wrote Obama book),”Even after the President forecast the storm to include Alabama.” THIS IS NOT TRUE. I said, VERY EARLY ON, that it MAY EVEN hit Alabama. A BIG DIFFERENCE.....

...FAKE NEWS. I would like very much to stop referring to this ridiculous story, but the LameStream Media just won’t let it alone. They always have to have the last word, even though they know they are defrauding & deceiving the public. The public knows that the Media is corrupt!

Unbeknownst to almost everyone, the major Taliban leaders and, separately, the President of Afghanistan, were going to secretly meet with me at Camp David on Sunday. They were coming to the United States tonight. Unfortunately, in order to build false leverage, they admitted to..

....an attack in Kabul that killed one of our great great soldiers, and 11 other people. I immediately cancelled the meeting and called off peace negotiations. What kind of people would kill so many in order to seemingly strengthen their bargaining position? They didn’t, they....

....only made it worse! If they cannot agree to a ceasefire during these very important peace talks, and would even kill 12 innocent people, then they probably don’t have the power to negotiate a meaningful agreement anyway. How many more decades are they willing to fight?

Not so sure.

Against my better judgment I posted on Facebook the series of quotes from Trump about never having heard of a Category 5 hurricane. I said, if you had an elderly uncle talking like this, wouldn’t you be concerned?

One of the first responses was, “Do you thing Sleepy Creepy Joe is any better? He can’t remember where he is half the time.”
I don't think trying to persuade people is a very effective strategy. I'm not sure what would be, though. You might take comfort in the fact that Trump's own tweets often seem to be followed by long strings of mostly anti-Trump responses.

What I find sad is how effective such schoolyard name calling seems to be with a select portion of the population. I would never have guessed it before. I guess if Trump has one talent, it’s effective “labeling”.
It is a select portion of the population. A larger portion than I would like, but not as many as it seems like based on the noise they make.

The lessons of Trump's 'purely reactionary' labor board, this week in the war on workers

The National Labor Relations Board recently gave businesses the go-ahead to misclassify employees as independent contractors. In the wake of that and other horrible decisions, former board member and current AFL-CIO general counsel Craig Becker writes that the NLRB is “the administrative state, remade in Trump’s image.” So how does that look?

Trump’s NLRB is “purely reactionary. It has no vision of how the law should promote healthy and productive labor relations, but seeks only to erase the recent past.” Literally, weeks after starting his job, the agency’s general counsel asked for the files on every major decision of the Obama era so that they might all be overturned. Next, Becker writes, “while Trump claims to speak for American workers, he has staffed the NLRB with longtime frontmen for their corporate employers.” And they’re refusing to recuse themselves from cases in which their former law firms represented employers.

Third, according to Becker, “despite the president’s rhetoric, his NLRB is not deregulating but, rather, selectively regulating—that is, regulating unions but not employers.” Trump’s political appointee is overturning huge numbers of decisions made by career attorneys … when they decide against prosecuting unions. And fourth, “Trump’s NLRB has contempt for procedural norms and fairness.” That means reversing precedent without giving public notice to hear from people who might be affected.

Overall, what this spells out for the NLRB, and for the Trump administration more generally, is that “laws are being used to silence and oppress the very people they were intended to protect—workers, borrowers, consumers.“

The Trump Administration - brazenly evil and only concerned with the law to the point where they can use it against others, while breaking and ignoring it constantly themselves. Pretty much exactly what's to be expected, though, when one realizes how effectively the Kochs and those they worked with have corrupted the GOP into something that directly supports their goals over the goals of the actual voters in the GOP.

"The best people."

Oh, as a bonus, feel free to take a peek at the sheer depths of utter and complete moronic inanity that Laura Ingraham is willing to reach, explicitly in the name of triggering liberals.

No, that is NOT what Trump said. This is:

In addition to Florida - South Carolina, North Carolina, Georgia, and Alabama, will most likely be hit (much) harder than anticipated. Looking like one of the largest hurricanes ever. Already category 5. BE CAREFUL! GOD BLESS EVERYONE!

A BIG DIFFERENCE BETWEEN "and Alabama, will most likely be hit (much) harder than anticipated" and " it MAY EVEN hit Alabama".

As for the highlighted 'last word' part, I have got to invest in irony meters!

This feels like the diplomatic version of "I have a really hot girlfriend who lives in another state. You probably won't have a chance to meet her."

The President, The Chosen One, negotiates with terrorists.

That is some bull ****.

Agreed; at this point there's no evidence whatsoever that such a meeting was planned aside from Trump's claim, which is not credible in any matter.

I hope some of his supporters are finally starting to see that as well.

And the media has to have the last word because they have to report what he said. If he would stfu about it, the story wouldn't have legs.

It's just all part of the cascade.

Trump says something truly ignorant.
The press reports it and people laugh at Trump.
Trump goes into toddler pout mode: "Nuh-uh, I was right."
Press again reports ignorant doubling down including the sharpie nonsense.
Trump has to claim again in toddler pout mode: "Nuh-uh, I'm only posting because the press won't shut up."

Never does it dawn on him he has an option to just shut up.

And Kim Jong Un, Vladimir Putin, Xi Jinping and Boris Johnson were also going to be there to sing a medley of Beatles' hits while riding pink unicorns for everyone's entertainment!

Trump abruptly cancels Afghan peace deal with Taliban

US President Donald Trump says he has called off peace negotiations with the Taliban that sought to end America's 18-year war in Afghanistan.

Mr Trump tweeted he had been set to meet Afghan President Ashraf Ghani and senior Taliban leaders on Sunday.

But he cancelled the secret meeting at his Camp David retreat after the militants admitted they were behind a recent attack that killed a US soldier.

The talks were due to take place a few days before the anniversary of 9/11.

Sunday Express is reporting that Boris will 'sabotage' and 'paralyse' the EU if he doesn't get his exit
Apparently he will use the EU’s own rules to bring it to a standstill from November 1 unless the deadlock on Brexit is ended. and that “I refuse to accept Corbyn’s pointless delay.” and vowed to *simply “carry on” if Corbyn again blocks an election.
