What's the point of PMQs if the PM doesn't even answer the question? It just seems like an excuse for gratuitous bantering and trying to impress people with "made for TV" zingers they're spent days practicing.

It ceased to be useful decades ago. It's pure political theatre these days. IIRC Jeremy Corbyn tried to make it less so, but failed.
 
Ken Clark (father of the house) sums it up accurately IMO:

Ken Clarke MP - who had the Tory whip removed after voting for the Brexit delay bill tells The World at One that he thinks no deal has been avoided - but cannot be sure.

"I think it has, but anybody who feels confident of anything in this amazing shambles is obviously deceiving themselves - you can't predict what each day will bring," he says.

"This morning we've had the resignation of Jo Johnson - so the first minister has resigned - and the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland Julian Smith had to reveal to the Commons that he wasn't consulted about proroguing Parliament and nor was anybody else who knew anything about Northern Ireland."

He adds: "Who knows what the afternoon will bring."

PMQ is one of these new fangle things, not even 60 years old. Need to give it some time to settle in, no need to be hasty.

And yet one of the lowest productivity levels. Long commute, long hours, low productivity. It’s almost like we’re getting it wrong and could learn a thing or two from our European neighbours...

If Boris found 50 MPs to present a motion of no confidence against him, could he force an election, which would then...sorry I've confused myself. Carry on.
 
In Norway, the PM can demand a vote of confidence from parliament. Usually it's attached to a bill, effectively saying vote for this or the government falls.

Of course, Norway has a much longer tradition with "hung" parliaments, where no party has had majority since WW2 and most governments are minority governments.

The PM could table a VONC on himself in line with the FTPA act. Which might see the Tories voting against themselves and Labour voting for them to stay in government :)
 
There's going to be another vote on an election on Monday. And it also looks like they are planning to dissolve/prorouge parliament immediately afterwards but not sure if that is related to the election vote or not.
 
In other .... well I guess its rumour at the minute.... it is being said that the Government produced false documents relating to the prorogation case being heard in the Scottish courts and asked civil servants to perjure themselves by attesting that they were true. They refused but if there is any truth to this then it would surely be criminal?

I was thinking about this. The opposition could be whipped to vote against a VONC, whilst the government whips their own MPs to vote for it.

It would be delicious. And somehow appropriate.

That's part of a claim brought by Gina Miller.
 
We need brexit delayed, a GE and probably something like a Labour, Lib Dem or even SNP coalition to form a government that then cancels brexit.
