Cont: Brexit: Now What? Magic 8 Ball's up

For years I was traumatised by step-mother insisting that any left-over chicken was made into risotto, which I did not and never have liked. These days I get to have lovely yummy cold chicken for lunch on Mondays and Tuesdays.

Turkey risotto after Christmas FTL.

It took me ages to realise that risotto can be pleasant. I still prefer paella though.

But I tend to think most things (except deserts) can be improved with chorizo.

From last night it sounds like Corbyn has decided a VONC or an early election vote will do him no favours. That leaves Boris in quite the pickle if he can't call an election. I mean all those grand financial plans are exactly the kind of thing you put about before an election and ditch after you win, or castigate the other party for not implementing after you lose.

Yes. Johnson was betting on forcing an election before Brexit hit, and he could go to the country to blame others.

Like his mentor and role model President Trump, Boris Johnson is reduced to insults and name calling:

Boris Johnson has accused Jeremy Corbyn of being "frit and chicken" over the chance of getting a general election.

It's utterly pathetic the level to which the UK PM has sunk

It has all gone too far if you ask me. I know many professions have been hard hit by brexit but to hear 21 Tories will no longer be whipped. Can the Dominatrix industry take such a set back?
Still plenty of bankers in London....

Oh yes!

In the late-70s, my step-mother has three "exotic" dishes in here repertoire: spaghetti Bolognese, lasagne, and risotto. For years I thought I was indifferent to the first, and didn't like the other two. It was only in later life that I discovered that it was that she couldn't actually make a good one of the first two.

I'm reading that there were no Govt. tellers, so even thought the No lobby was full it passed. Possible shenanigans.

Dunno if this link will work but ... link

"I voted for the Withdrawal Agreement every time it was presented to the house, which is more than can be said for my Friend the Prime Minister, the Leader of the House and other members of the Cabinet, whose serial disloyalty has been such an inspiration for so many of us"

Nicholas Soames

A parliament runs from election to election. It is then broken into separate sessions.

This current session is the longest since the civil war. It's something of an anomaly - though unlikely to break the record of the Long Parliament from civil war times. That lasted 13 years ;)

And only ended when Cromwell basically disbanded it.

My sister worked for a housing association in London and had several meetings where BoJo (then mayor) was present. He was the same then, not knowing, blustering and trying to ******** people, who knew a great deal more about the subject matter than him.

She likes him even less now.

In other words just like Trump....

Kinnock amendment -

" However, the government did not provide any “tellers”, the MPs who count votes, for their side, the nos. That meant it was passed by default. Whether that was an accident or planned wasn’t clear. However, the amendment did not stop the bill then passing the third reading, so MPs seemed unbothered."

No sweat, it seems.
