The Trump Presidency 15

Is it even high school? I'd guess that both his emotional maturity and his interest in the world around him stopped developing about the same time his verbal skills did: fourth or fifth grade.

I didn't say they were smart high schoolers.:D
I'm thinking more along the lines of Jeff Spicoli.

It's a deflect on the conspiracy theories which suggest Trump was invovled in Epsteins's death.
Me, I hold off on accusations of murder until I have solid evidence..which we have not had yet.
But it's no secret Bill Clinton had some pretty unsavory connections when President....he was buddies buddies with the people who ran Enron....something which Democrats don't like to talk about.

I think you're talking about George W and Ken Lay and Jeffrey Skilling.

Yes, Trump is trying to deflect any reference of his association with Jeffrey Epstein. But this man is supposed to be the President. Him making such a suggestion is just another example why he's a scumbag.

Here's proof that Trump can't be racist...

Trump also made fun of US allies South Korea, Japan and the European Union — mimicking Japanese and Korean accents — and talked about his love of dictators Kim Jong Un and the current ruler of Saudi Arabia.

See? He cares so much about foreign cultures that he even tries to mimic their accents!

Given his amazing abilities with his native language, that would have been...less than stellar to observe.

Fake news. Nobody's more socialist than the New York Post.

Hua Chunying, Beijing’s foreign ministry spokesperson, called Washington “irresponsible” over its approach to negotiations, noting: “The Chinese economy grew by 6.2 per cent in the second quarter of this year, while for the US the number is 2.1 per cent.” One reason for Beijing’s defiance is that China’s economy is not hurting as badly as many in Beijing feared, analysts said...Between July 2018, when the US first imposed its tariffs, to the end of June this year, US exports to China slumped by $33bn, or 21 per cent of the total. In contrast, Chinese exports to the US grew by $4b
...
Meanwhile, China is preferring US competitors. While the average tariff Beijing imposes on US goods has risen by 12.4 percentage points since May last year, the average tariff it applies to Europe, Japan and elsewhere has decreased

"I just got a beautiful letter from [N. Korean dictator Kim Jong-Un] this week," Trump said. "We are friends. People say he only smiles when he sees me."
This is really quite a remarkable claim, since it implies that the U.S. has moles in North Korea who are very close to Kim.

It would be nice if true, but why would the American president brag about it?

ETA: I keep thinking national security is the one area where he might lose Senate support. The arms to Saudi Arabia and his refusal to address Russian meddling in U.S. elections must at least privately be of great concern to Lindsey Graham and other key GOP senators.

Ummm... why would Russian meddling be of great concern? Its benefiting the GOP, so I think its safe to say that the senators would be A-Ok with it.

Its not like the party that did its best to obstruct Obama, engaged in Gerrymandering and voter suppression, and has accepted shady NRA campaign funds for years would actually decide to show integrity just because it happens to be Putin propping up the party.

(The only reason why they would show concern is if such meddling starts to become politically harmful to the GOP itself, such as if voters start to see them as "non-patriotic".)

I honestly don't think that President Trump's approval meter would move significantly if there was footage of him saying

"Me chinky-chonky secletary Xi, me fink Donald Trump velly crever man"

Those who approve of him will ignore and/or forgive anything. Those that do not think that he's beyond the pale.

Now, who thinks Trump should be judged by the company he keeps?

Epstien... As discussed elsewhere, convicted of running underage prostitution schemes.

Plenty of video exists of Trump 'partying' with Epstein, with Trump calling him a "terrific guy".

George Nader... Convicted of both Child Pornography and sexually abusing boys in Europe.

Had meetings with Trump Jr. about working on the presidental campaign.

John Casablancas... ran a modeling agency, and got divorced after he had an affair with a 16 year old model.

Ivanka Trump was supposedly a client of his, and his modelling agency held events at Trump tower.

Tevfik Arif
... He had been charged by the Turkish government for prostitution-related crimes. (Initially it was thought that the prostitutes were underage, although it was found that that was not the case)

His company worked with Trump on several real estate projects

Or, more likely, Trump fans will claim that Trump's attempts to mimic Asian speech show how non-racist he is.

And then there's this:

From: https://www.usatoday.com/story/news...n-over-travel-warnings-against-us/1965898001/
President Donald Trump threatened undefined retaliation Friday against countries and organizations that issue travel warnings on the United States because of gun violence.

Trying to figure out the logic here...

If another country is dangerous to travel to, shouldn't there already be warnings to "avoid these countries"?

And if the other country is not dangerous, is Trump proposing giving false information to American citizens?

And yet, it somehow makes sense to President Trump and is not troubling to his supporters.

]He added: "We are a very reciprocal nation with me as the head. When somebody does something negative to us in terms of a country, we do it to them."

I wonder how many presidents and prime ministers are saying “wait, all we have to do to ensure that he never comes here is to publicly refuse to go there?”

ETA
I’m trying to think of a Trump story for which it would be inappropriate to say “and yet, it somehow makes sense to President Trump and is not troubling to his supporters,”
