White House tells ICE to conduct dozens more workplace enforcement operations, source says

Shortly after the raids in Mississippi that led to the detention of at least 680 undocumented immigrants, US Immigrations and Customs Enforcement field offices across the country were instructed to identify at least two locations in their regions as potential targets for workplace enforcement operations, the source said.
Those operations can include criminal investigations, business audits and raids.

As those of use who care to inform ourselves know, these things are rather disruptive to supply chains and those who own them and satisfy themselves on their being operational. So there's going to be a nasty eruption in the GOP donor lists here in a bit while some brawls take place in the smoke-filled back rooms. Money already spent and promises of more will settle who gets raided and who gets passed over safely.

But whoever it ends up being, they will be mightily pissed off and unlike most of the careerists in the beltway, donors have an activist mindset and are not prone to nobly falling on their swords and quietly retiring to the political wilderness. Instead, they tend to start running their mouths a lot at that point.

ETA: I'm not saying anything particularly useful will fall out of the tree, but this is definitely a move that is going to shake the tree.

... Yet another set of Republicans that have quite earned the bird in response to their intentionally unseemly conduct.

The El Paso visit showed Donnie at this worst.
I really want to see how his worshippers here defend his making this about the size of his crowds.

Speaking of that... "What kind of psychopath poses with an infant whose parents were killed"

That's a small round up of a few reactions. This image sums it up well, though, I think.

Also, White House aides think Trump's visits to El Paso and Dayton were a 'debacle'

It's good that this is in the press again, but this information has been out for a long time.

Yeah.

Am I the only one that remembers this?

No. It's just one of so very, very many things to keep track of, though, so I definitely don't get offended at people missing or forgetting huge amounts of it.

Sorta moot for Kushner since Trump could just pardon him, anyway, but an impeachable offence for Trump is whatever the House says it is. Yeah, Trump is legally allowed to do it, but Congress is legally allowed to hold him into account if he's doing things that are clearly not in our national interests.

Speaking of impeachment... Nadler: ‘This is formal impeachment proceedings’

House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jerry Nadler said publicly for the first time on Thursday that his panel is conducting an impeachment inquiry into President Donald Trump, adding that the committee will decide by the end of the year whether to refer articles of impeachment to the House floor.

Finally.

Hmm. Random news, then.

Pentagon is testing hi-tech, solar-powered surveillance balloons over 6 states in the Midwest

Why is this of real note? Privacy concerns, in short.

Epstein docs unsealed - so much trafficked sex

If you so desire, feel free to browse, yourself.

Trump Tweets

Maggie Haberman of the Failing @nytimes reported that I was annoyed by the lack of cameras inside the hospitals in Dayton & El Paso, when in fact I was the one who stated, very strongly, that I didn’t want the Fake News inside & told my people NOT to let them in. Fake reporting!

Trump Tweets

Never has the press been more inaccurate, unfair or corrupt! We are not fighting the Democrats, they are easy, we are fighting the seriously dishonest and unhinged Lamestream Media. They have gone totally CRAZY. MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!

Given Trump's penchant for projection, this is disturbing.

The kind who is too stupid to look around and say to himself, none of the victims are smiling so I should not smile myself. The kind who is too stupid to look at photos of previous presidents comforting grieving people. After all a guy too dumb to prepare for a meeting with a NK dictator is going to be too full of himself to spend even 5 minutes preparing to meeting grieving people.

Riiiight. As if any rational person would believe that President Trump would send photographers away.

Or morelike, simply an acknowledgement of the fact that the far right and the forces funding them have been crazy (albeit frequently in a somewhat diabolical form) for too long already. Seriously, once again, when faced with their own projections of world-wide catastrophe if things continued as they were, pretty much all of Big Oil corporations decided to try to protect and increase their short-term profits by knowingly and intentionally funding massive and quite organized disinformation and confusion efforts, much like the Big Tobacco efforts to deny the links between their products and cancer. Those are the people who have been increasingly forming the backbone of the Republican Party's fund-raising and taking an unfortunately active hand in the primary process over a long period of time, gradually reshaping the Republican Party to serve their interests better and better.

This baby is the picture of innocence now, but some day he will know and understand why he has no parents. And here's the souvenir photo commemorating it:

Surely, this thoughtful man left a signed copy for him to treasure?

The adoptive parents don't want the picture "politicized", which makes you wonder why they allowed them to be photographed by Trump in the first place.

I thought he had already made America great again?

Yeah, I was going to mention this. Last weekend in Iowa I was seeing all these "Keep Amwrica Great" hats with trump 2020.

I was going to ask, exactly what has happened to make Ametica great in the last 2 years? Well, now it appears that the President doesn't believe that America is great yet, so how can he be running on keeping it that way?

Or maybe it's all just meaningless platitudes?

The baby looks like it is avoiding looking at Trump, with an expression of disgust.

Wise beyond its years.

How can anyone not look at that set-up photo and not conclude that there is something so deeply wrong with Trump as to be terrifying? Of all the things Trump has said and done, to me this "photo-op" is perhaps the most simple and direct proof of his total lack of human emotions and fundamental inability to empathize with others; he simply cannot see anything except in terms of himself and how he can exploit it for his own interests. My god - apparently he doesn't even know how to pretend to be a human being!

The very idea of this photo is appalling, but what gets me is that it's exactly the same pose he used when pitching Trump Steaks, Trump Airlines, Trump University,... What the hell did he think he was selling with this photo? Racial violence orphans?

The answer is obvious when you put it like that. He was selling himself in all those cases.
