The Trump Presidency 15

Well, he said he'd run the country like he runs his businesses and he is. What happens when a country declares bankruptcy? I'm guessing it's not going to be extremely pleasant.

If the government buys up any unwanted crops at top dollar then the farmers will likely be as happy as clams.

From the article that I read on agweek, that doesn't appear to be the case.

The GOP aren't going to make a fuss about it,ever. Compared to the money squandered on big ticket defence projects it's a pittance and in any case it shores up the base.

Anyone who gives a **** is already opposed to President Trump. His supporters will view this as his commitment to Keeping America Great

I am forced to listen to some conservative radio, and I can certainly tell you that the attitude towards Trump is definitely not as supportive as it was 3 years ago. Make no mistake, NoDak will always be red, but even a few around here have started groaning.

I think they know that showy bailouts are not a substitute for long-term stable markets. We need the markets.

On the other hand doesn't Trump usually just reverse himself on China every week or two? Perhaps deliberately manipulating the stock market so insiders can buy on the downswing.

It's complicated for farmers as well since some will change crops year to year to maximize their income. If you don't know what the orange ******* is going to do from one week to the next, it's tough to make those decisions.

And in doing so, Trump has single-handedly destroyed an actual market for their products, while creating a permanent need for more Farm Welfare. Where in the world could they possibly expect to replace a billion-plus customer market?

About 90 cents of every dollar of ag relief ends up in the hands of large holders. So the homestead farms still go belly up. They may be relieved to find an offer on their property that, while a bit low, is still on the edge of fair and they aren't in the best bargaining position just then.

Now, if you're wondering where the buyer has found money to offer on properties to expand their holdings, just start reading this post again from the beginning.

If he runs it like his businesses, why should he care about the outcome? He'll walk away and leave everyone else holding the bag again.

It was reported that when he was having it explained to him how damaging his tax cuts would be to the economy long-term, he got angry and said that he didn't care because he wouldn't be in office by then.

Well, Trump's Thoughts and Prayers might be with the people of El Paso, but his money sure isn't....

From: https://www.huffingtonpost.ca/entry...or-rally-city-says_n_5d49703be4b0d291ed06aa44
The Trump campaign owes El Paso $569,204 from a rally he held in the city back in February, with the majority owed to the city’s police and fire departments...The bill sent to the Trump campaign in April was initially $470,417.05 but a one-time 21% late fee was added in June after the campaign failed to pay the initial amount owed.
...
The Center for Public Integrity reported back in June that the Trump campaign still owes more than $840,000 to 10 cities — including El Paso — for public safety costs associated with his political rallies, some of which go back to his first presidential campaign....the Trump administration and Congress still owe more than $7 million to Washington, D.C., for his inauguration.

I wonder what would happen if some of these cities said "No, we won't provide city resources unless you pay us up front/pay us money we are owed".

From an extremely cynical point of view, having a negative outcome occur after he left office might actually be a positive in his view. Sure, rational people know that the economy doesn't turn on a dime, but the broader public often does not take the long view in these matters. Having a recession come crashing down after he leaves office would be a great opportunity for Trump to barb his replacement and tout his own "success", even if the resulting recession was the delayed response of his bad policies.

Since Trump would be term limited, there's no reason for him not to goose the economy and not care about the future. Either he fails to get re-elected and it's his usurpers problem, or he can deal with it after he has secured 4 more years of power and doesn't have to ever worry about running for reelection.

Why would he care about the future? He's president now and that's all that matters to him.

I wonder why they didn't already do that. It's not like Trump's disinclination towards paying bills hasn't been common knowledge for years now.

Trump visiting El Paso: Textbook example of addin Insult to Injury.
I hope the good people of El Paso prepare a suitable welcome for Trump.

Again, I doubt he will be seeing any residents face-to-face at all, or even from a "suitable" distance.

Of course, but that will stop demonstrations for the people of El Paso to show Donnie exactly what they think of him......

Trump visits! Republicans: thoughts and prayers!
But hey, the Republicans are helping bring two things upfront to 2020 election that they can't solve
1 gun violence
2 healthcare

He just has to move the economy into Abenomics mode. The US is in the unique position of being the source of the USD. Just print as much of them as required. Abe has demonstrated it is a workable economic model.
