Our representatives have just returned from China where they had constructive talks having to do with a future Trade Deal. We thought we had a deal with China three months ago, but sadly, China decided to re-negotiate the deal prior to signing. More recently, China agreed to...

...buy agricultural product from the U.S. in large quantities, but did not do so. Additionally, my friend President Xi said that he would stop the sale of Fentanyl to the United States – this never happened, and many Americans continue to die! Trade talks are continuing, and...

...during the talks the U.S. will start, on September 1st, putting a small additional Tariff of 10% on the remaining 300 Billion Dollars of goods and products coming from China into our Country. This does not include the 250 Billion Dollars already Tariffed at 25%...

...We look forward to continuing our positive dialogue with China on a comprehensive Trade Deal, and feel that the future between our two countries will be a very bright one!

Wait a sec... he is praising a budget deal, then then admitting that eventually the terms of the deal will be altered (i.e. 'cuts' will be implemented).

I know Trump can't be trusted to stick by any deals, but its kind of strange to see him admitting it before hand.

As a Canadian, I'm a little worried about that.

Canada does have lower drug prices than the U.S. (Partly because our government negotiates the prices with the drug companies). I always figured that drug manufacturers earn large profits in the U.S., that they're willing to sell drugs cheaper in Canada because the money they earn is just 'gravy' to them. But if the U.S. starts importing its drugs from Canada, there is a chance that the drug companies will decide "no more cheap drugs for Canada", and we'll end up paying more.

But if the U.S. starts importing its drugs from Canada, there is a chance that the drug companies will decide "no more cheap drugs for Canada", and we'll end up paying more.

It's to do with the size of the market and orders.
In the US there isn't one central govt organisation negotiating and buying.

Remind me again what your feelings are on picking someone who is so centrist that they alienate the progressives and liberals who will decide this election, who may just sit at home and vote for neither?

If you don't vote for the lesser evil, you don't have much business complaining about the greater evil.

Seriously, if you're a progressive or a liberal, if you can’t see the difference between a boring centrist and someone like Trump, you really do deserve him.

Man. Talk about telegraphing--no, blaring over a megaphone--the longer term play. If only the Trumpers would see this for what it is. Cynical pandering now to get votes, but a plan to pull the rug out after the election. This kind of open admission would be inconceivable a few short years ago. Trump really thinks his base is a rabble of drooling rubes.

Because there are a lot more moderate and centrist out there then hard line progressives...something I know lot of people out here refuse to accept.

At the moment, after Trump, boring sounds good.
I think you have a lot of people here who are really overestimating the number of "hard left" voters out there.

Maybe the military and other agencies play a role in past inaugurations, but my understanding that all that is needed to make a new President is for the Chief Justice of the SCOTUS to administer the oath of office.

Hell, you don't even need the Chief Justice, though that is the tradition. Any official who can administer an oath..right down to the Public Notary level...can do the job and have it legally binding.

Calvin Cooledge, who became President when Harding died, had the oath administered by his father,who was a Jusitce of the Peace and a Notary PUblic.
Lyndon Johnson had it adminsiterd at Love Airfield, Texas, by a local judge who was an old friend.

Because there are a lot more moderate and centrist out there then hard line progressives...something I know lot of people out here refuse to accept.
But keep it up...you will do a great job getting Trump relelected.

You see that Biden is the most popular democratic challenger, so you think "He's not too radical, I won't vote for him but I'm not eager enough to vote for Trump either, so I'll sit out the 2020 election." So the Democrats didn't get him to switch, but they at least got him to consider sitting out the election. Then, the Democrats turn around and nominate Sanders instead... all of a sudden, you realize that if you don't vote for Trump, you'll have your health care upended, your taxes increased, etc. So instead of sitting out the election, you willingly trudge to the polls to vote for a guy you're not completely happy about, in order to keep someone you REALLY don't like out of power.

I wholeheartedly agree that an entire generational cycle of political instincts and hard data all say play to the middle to be safe.

We don't live in that era anymore.

Well, when you address troops in Iraq and say “everyone is getting a 10% raise because I went to bat for the troops” (and no one gets anything close to a 10% raise) and not lose a single point t in the poles, then you can pretty much announce anything short of turning the country over to Putin and the supporters will eat it up and ask for seconds.

Trump finishing tariffs off by tariffing your iphonez!!!!

The new tariffs could hit US consumers harder than the earlier rounds. It would tax goods like iPhones and other consumer electronics, sneakers and toys. Last year, Trump imposed tariffs on about $250 billion in Chinese-made goods, targeting industrial materials and components.

How many people will put up with their gadgets getting taxed?! Hell, iPhones is going to hit the silver hairs hard!
