"SEND HER BACK!" Will they defend this?

The sad thing is, this CBS story doesn't even have *that*. Maybe it's time to consider the possibility that CBS is not your friend.
If that's what you think is sad about this story I'm surprised. The sad thing is an 18-year-old U.S. citizen being swept up in anti-immigrant hysteria and held for 3 weeks. He shouldn't have made the mistake of hanging out with his brother. This would be sad even if he weren't a citizen, but arguably it would be justifiable.

You keep repeating that "mainstream news outlet X is not your friend." You say this of a broad range of outlets. They are not our enemy, either. They are businesses making money with freedom of speech. It's a very American thing. They care bunches about their credibility. Even with their flaws, they're a vital part of democracy.

Where do you get your information about the world? It's a serious question. I'd like to see you answer it.

I keep thinking you're being ironical. But I'm afraid you're not. What's next - eye-rolling emojis? Pro tips?

Don't ride in the same car as your brother. What a loser. You never made that mistake - it's his own damn fault.

I find it disturbing that in a forum such as this, this thread has resulted in more posters than I would have expected have outing themselves as racists.... and who some of them are, shall we say, has surprised me.

(No names; that would violate the MA)
The worst part to me is that for a little bit it looked like there was an actual line that maybe they'd consider uncrossable (advocating for the deportation of not just citizens but citizens who are also elected representatives). But give them a conspiracy theory to hypothesize about and, bam, there was never a line at all.

I'm sure he's forever grateful for your understanding.

Just because someone (especially on this board) claims racism does not make it so. It's become comical.

And this thread provides a wonderful example of why this whining is bullcrap.

We are discussing a man who, in the recent past...

Stated that the first black president of the US couldn't possibly be a US citizen even after documentation above and beyond that of any white US president had been provided;

Proposed a ban on muslims entering the US, as well as a national flonking registry of muslims currently in the US;

Stated that Hispanic immigrants are criminals and rapists, and;

Acted as though aid to Puerto Rico was an act of amazing generosity (rather than a simple obligation of the federal government - in contrast to, say, aid to Texas).

He absolutely does not deserve any benefit of the doubt when he tells three people of color born in the US, along with one person of color who immigrated as a child and is a naturalized citizen, to go back to the country they were born in. What's more, anyone who tries to give him any such benefit is at the very best a goddamn fool. "The US is for white people" has been documented white supremacist thinking since the days of the Dred Scott Decision.

Yes, I am comparing the reasoning of Dolt 45 and his defenders, to that of what is widely considered the worst Supreme Court decision in US history. And I absolutely mean it.

But go and keep badgering, name-calling and chasing away anyone who disagrees with you. Seriously, how many conservative posters are left here?

See, *you* are the one saying "Go Back to Africa!" is "conservative". Personally, I don't think so at all. I've met liberals who freak out when black kids attend their kid's school, and I've met conservatives who are staunch proponents of equality.

Someone compared "theprestige" to TBD recently. That's just ridiculous.

I've learned not to bother with either one of them years ago, and that's all I'll say.

But people like Donald Trump who demonize the media are our Enemy.

And you routinely flirt with that, bro.

It sounds like she's rapping. She rocks that dress though.

A commenter wondered if she was a prank candidate drafted to con money out of the RNC. That sounds like a really cool idea.

More likely she's getting virtually no party funding and is just a nutter running as a Republican because the party has decided it's an unwinnable district for them.

This. Is. Pathetic.

Personally, I think he's a Travis follower (Travis called 'em concentration camps in a thread starter in November, last year.)

If you take seriously the concept that inflammatory rhetoric can lead to violence, then AOCs rhetoric is a problem. But I don't think you do take it seriously. I think you only take it when it's convenient for your partisan interests.

Call me king of the rhetoric then. I beat AOC to the punch by six months.

"Why won't Omar simply address this rumor and give us evidence she didn't marry her brother?"

"Why won't Obama simply address this rumor and give us his birth certificate?"

"Why won't Warren simply address this rumor and take a blood test?"

This is a ********, disingenuous MO. Any evidence she gives will be dismissed and twisted.

Perhaps CBP and ICE will soon provide the details that CBS News left out.

And those jeans look loose to me.

The only aspect that is novel to this story is the fact that ICE refused to believe that he is a US citizen, as they initially claimed his papers were forgeries.

All the rest is consistent with other reports of how the camps are run. I would like the officials who disregarded his papers to be personally liable for compensation as well as the organisation.
