"SEND HER BACK!" Will they defend this?

I will note that I have heard people talking about a post which shows the fact that our own poster Ziggurat is actually Omar's brother. He's been asked to address this post and has not denied the accusation or provided anyone here with a list of his family.

What is he hiding?

If such refusal to engage with an accusation is damning, which some posters here seem to feel in ilhan Omar's case, then we have reason to be quite concerned.

SEND HIM BACK!
SEND HIM BACK!
SEND HIM BACK!

*shrug* this was the inevitable end result of asinine arguments like "But democrats are the real racists, they keep blacks on their plantation with welfare money." and "Racism is so overused, it doesn't even mean anything anymore, liberals just use it when they're losing an argument." that republicans have peddled for the past 40+ years. No shock that you end up with people who simply can't recognize outright white supremacism unless there's a terrorist involved - and sometimes not even then.

Republicans were given plenty of warning ever since Barry Goldwater ran for president, they arrogantly ignored every warning sign, and now they're surprised to discover that they represent white supremacy, and that's about it. I feel bad for guys like Weld who actually did try to push back and stick to principles.

I find it disturbing that in a forum such as this, this thread has resulted in more posters than I would have expected have outing themselves as racists.... and who some of them are, shall we say, has surprised me.

(No names; that would violate the MA)

Not to mention full-blown conspiracy theorists.

But.. but... AOC accurately described the ICE camps as concentration camps - which seems even more appropriate given how this US citizen was treated:

Losing 26lbs in 23 days, having fellow internees with ticks but not daring to ask for medical care as they'd been threatened with starting out again.

Not being allowed to shower

Pretty horiffic

It's kind of terrible when the last few pro-GOP posters on this forum out themselves as vile racists like they have in this thread. I exclude RBF in this, but given his views, I don't consider him pro-GOP.

Maybe now is the time to stop communicating with these members? The best way to discuss racism is to talk about it, not with it.

I'm sure he's forever grateful for your understanding.

Just because someone (especially on this board) claims racism does not make it so. It's become comical.

But go and keep badgering, name-calling and chasing away anyone who disagrees with you. Seriously, how many conservative posters are left here?

You see the board from your own perspective. To me, this board has completely gone off the rails with insults, Groupthink and faux outrage, with the left leaning posters being the nastier side of the bunch by a landslide.

Someone compared "theprestige" to TBD recently. That's just ridiculous. That tells me that it isn't the conservatives here that are pushing more to the right, it's the lefties going further left. Maybe YOU are the problem and it is YOUR ideals that are out of whack. Could be.

Ya, Sure. Whatever. "I'm a racist, you're a racist, wouldn't you like to be a racist too?"

Forget what anyone says.

Do you at leas agree that "go back to your own country" was one of the stereotypical racist phrases for at least 40 years, and that Trump, whether knowingly or unknowingly played into that. If it was unknowing, he should have apologised.

If Trump doesn't want to be thought of as racist, he shouldn't use racist language. He really shouldn't retweet people who make claims about "White Genocide". He should have disavowed the Klan's support.

I won't say that Trump supporters are racists, but if one is still a Trump supporter, they are either very comfortable with racists, or ignorant. I'd say wilfully ignorant by now.

Assuming any of it is true. The article is surprisingly short on before and after photos of an emaciated young man who lost a pound a day for thirty days.

All of the photos, his clothes fit just fine. Either he was super on top of getting a new wardrobe for his new weight, or he's refused to let CBS publish any "after" photos. Which is a shame, because such photos would really sell the story.

I admit, all I have to go on are the classic "concentration camp" photos from the late 1940s, documenting the nutritional deprivation of the inmates.

You should really think more along the lines of the US internment camps for Japanese Americans, or the British internment of Boers

I strongly disagree. Neither of those scenarios is properly analogous to the legitimate detention of undocumented immigrants pending final determination of their status. Maybe you meant that I should be thinking in terms of Nazi death camps?

Can someone get theprestige a screenshot of an Instagram post?

That should convince him.

How about the detention of American citizens in detention centers meant for immigrants?

Don't forget to carry your paperwork with you!

Seems like not traveling with undocumented people would go a long way towards solving that problem.

I'm biracial, with an obviously foreign last name. But although I've been detained by the police more than once in my life, I've never seen the inside of an immigration detention center. Probably because I didn't have an illegal family member in the car with me.

I wonder if I would have lost a pound a day.

The sad thing is, this CBS story doesn't even have *that*. Maybe it's time to consider the possibility that CBS is not your friend.

Or maybe it’s time for you give at least as much of a benefit of the doubt to reputable mainstream news outlets as you do to right wing crank conspiracy theory websites.

Does it matter? he's an American Citizen. Who does have rights. Or did.

as for the weight loss, if I lost 26lbs in 23 days.. My clothes might fit a little better. Maybe add a notch to the belt. But as well, I am a giant of a man.

I also could stand to lose 30lbs.

I also carry my 'paperwork' on me to prove than I am permitted in the USA.
