Somewhat curious about the circumstances surrounding this suspension from Twitter, I read a number of articles on the subject from sources of varying ideological alignment, and learned that Mrs. Mendoza's core defense is not unlike the inveterate speeder who complains that after having broken the speed limit for so many years without being busted for it, it seems very unfair that someone should ticket her for doing it now.

Trump's one brown friend and close-enough to a gold star mother, he's really making points on this one. Do you supposed Trump has given one dime to her fund?

I had to look it up myself, and found that although it originally was a more general expression which described mothers (and families) who had had a child die, it has since devolved into an organization for families who have had a child die due to some action by an illegal alien.

I guess they were concerned that some mother would sully the title by claiming that a cop gunning down her unarmed and innocent child qualified her to be a grieving "Angel Mom" mother as well.

Silvio Berlusconi, then prime minister, personally called a police station and pressured them to release the relative of the Egyptian president who had been caught shoplifting, because her arrest was causing a diplomatic incident. Except that it turns out that she wasn't the relative of any president, rather she was his 17 year old "call girl".

Mendoza’s statistic, purporting to demonstrate a shocking level of danger from immigrants who are in the U.S. illegally, grabbed Trump’s attention at the March roundtable. Link

It's been demonstrated to Mendoza that her figure is false. But she keeps using it, badgering various Democratic figures, insisting they "won't do anything" about illegal immigration and that they have "blood on their hands" as a result. Enough is enuff.

The GAO report that Mendoza claims backs up her rhetoric:

The GAO report does not say, at any point, how many homicides were committed each year by undocumented immigrants. Rather, it estimated the number of “historical arrests” for the population of criminal aliens incarcerated in federal or state penitentiaries or local jails from 2003 to 2010, according to the agency’s public affairs director, Charles Young, in a statement to CNBC.

The arrests themselves “could have occurred between August 1955 and April 2010,” Young said — roughly a 55-year gap. To be sure, the report notes that about 90 percent of the arrests in the study population occurred after 1990....The numbers taken from the study refer only to criminal aliens, and the report does not distinguish between which noncitizens are in the country legally or illegally when the crimes are committed.

When asked by CNBC to comment Mendoza doubled down. Literally!

Mendoza told CNBC...that she was “being very conservative” in her claim of 63,000 Americans killed, and suggested that the number is more likely twice as large at 125,000.

She's definitely a hater.

With almost no inflation, our Country is needlessly being forced to pay a MUCH higher interest rate than other countries only because of a very misguided Federal Reserve. In addition, Quantitative Tightening is continuing, making it harder for our Country to compete. As good.....

....as we have done, it could have been soooo much better. Interest rate costs should have been much lower, & GDP & our Country’s wealth accumulation much higher. Such a waste of time & money. Also, very unfair that other countries manipulate their currencies and pump money in!

It is far more costly for the Federal Reserve to cut deeper if the economy actually does, in the future, turn down! Very inexpensive, in fact productive, to move now. The Fed raised & tightened far too much & too fast. In other words, they missed it (Big!). Don’t miss it again!

Here's the thing. At the rate Trump just spouts off random nonsense he should be right more often then he is just on random chance.

Like his score would literally go up 20-30% if he literally was lying.

Because when people lie all the time but are also stupid, they tend to accidentally say things which are true. Trumps not doing that.

Like there's an... joke or one liner or trope or whatever about how if you go into a T/F exam and get a zero, that's statistically like getting a 100 because if you went in and really just didn't know anything and randomly guessed you'd probably get around 50 and Trump's almost at a real world version of that level.
