Trump Tweets

Here we go with the Fake Polls. Just like what happened with the Election against Crooked Hillary Clinton. ABC, NBC, CNN, @nytimes, @washingtonpost, they all got it wrong, on purpose. Suppression Polls so early? They will never learn!
A little context here...

I think the polls Trump is referring to are recent polls from NBC news and the Wall Street Journal (that bastion of communist thought!) suggesting that in a head-to-head match-up, Trump is trailing various Democratic candidates (Biden by 9 points, Sanders by 7 points, Warren by 5 points and Harris by 1 point.)

https://thehill.com/homenews/campai...of-fake-polls-after-surveys-show-him-trailing

Of course, there is also the issue that despite accusations that 'the polls were wrong in 2016', the fact is the polls were actually fairly accurate. They predicted a Clinton victory in the popular vote (which is exactly what happened). It was the analysts who failed to examine the polls in more detail to look at state-wide trends.

I thought that Paul Ryan was a bright, principled Republican. At one time I thought he would have made a good president.

I stand corrected.

Criticizing Trump now reeks of hypocrisy. When he was actually in a position to do something - call for censure or even just speak out - he took the coward’s path and essentially stood mute, which made him an enabler. An accomplice.

And that goes for all the republicans now who just go along with this freak show. I’m disgusted.

The Onion provides: [Paul Ryan Lauded For Inspiring Millions Of Young Gutless ******* Cowards To Take On Leadership Roles]

It hasn't changed my opinion of him.

I've always thought him to be a scumbag piece of crap going back 30+ years. I've never been able to stomach the SOB, even less so now that the media whore is in our faces 24/7.

But I never really thought him to be as racist as people claimed him to be, albeit the garbage that's come out of his mouth over the years brings that to question sometimes.

This time is different though and it has cemented my doubts about his racist viewpoints. The trope he spewed out on Twitter can only come from a deep inbred type of prejudice that usually only surfaces in someone when they're under the influence of alcohol or in a heated argument (aka: temporarily losing control of their faculties).

The fact that he said this crap so casually, so soberly, and so matter-of-factly for the whole world to see, now proves his racist beliefs and shows everyone his true colours beyond a shadow of doubt.

Simply put: What I wasn't so sure of before, I am sure of now.

The "****-hole countries" thing should have done it, and not just because he insulted those countries. He was asking why we let anyone immigrate from those countries instead of more nice Europeans. If advocating policies that discriminate against an entire group of people based on a derogatory stereotype and presumption of undesirability isn't part of your definition of racism... you're wrong.

Seems like racism is getting ever bolder in the US.

Patience people. I'm sure someone will be along sooner or later to demand we talk about this one thing someone on the Left said about race that was... *gasp* SLIGHTLY HYPERBOLIC! *faints dead away*

Funny thing is, republicans who aren't in power are often slamming him. Bill Weld, Rick Wilson (who has clearly despised him from the start) and Joe Walsh (who actually comes off as a pretty principled guy on Twitter) have all been slamming him, among others.

Jeff Flake, via Twitter:

"I’ve often said that Republican elected officials can’t be expected to respond to every comment by the President. But there are times when the President's comments are so vile and offensive that it is incumbent on Republicans to respond and condemn. This is one of those times."

Lindsay Graham: “I think what you like about him, he appears to be strong and the rest of us are weak. He’s a very successful businessman and he’s gonna make everything great. He’s gonna take all the problems of the world and put ’em in a box and make your life better. That’s what he’s selling.

Here’s what you’re buying: He’s a race-baiting, xenophobic religious bigot. He doesn’t represent my party. He doesn’t represent the values that the men and women who wear the uniform are fighting for.”

UK Channel 4 News Tweeted

“Does it concern you that many people saw that tweet as racist and that white nationalist groups are finding common cause with you on that point?”

Trump: “It doesn't concern me because many people agree with me.”

President Trump responds to questions about his racist tweets.

Trump steps up attack on 'US-hating' congresswomen

"If you are not happy, if you are complaining all the time, you can leave," he told a heated news conference outside the White House.
"These are people that in my opinion hate our country," President Trump told reporters.
"As far as I'm concerned if you hate our country, if you're not happy here, you can leave. You can leave right now. I don't know who's going to miss 'em," he said, to applause from some in the audience.

And of course there is Mueller.

Basically as long as they don't have to face voters they can say something else.

Then again you have Newt arguing for going even more full racist.

Really? Not the they are sending their rapists thing? There are so many things that simply show he is racist it is hard to choose.

For once, I have to say that Trump has it right here. The constitution is clearly on his side:

The first amendment, bolding my own for emphasis

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably go back to their own countries if they hate this one so much.

And of course there is Mueller.

Gingrich once referred to Obama as "the food stamp president", so we know where he stands on racism.

I realise Trump has always been an outright racist since way back when, decades. But he has usually kept it to himself. As a businessman he knows it's not really good for business. So what I'm hearing are the dulcet tones and thoughts of SS-Ober-Gruppenfuhrer Miller, cross-eyed Nazi, race-baiter and White Supremacist, provoking him to tweet more openly.

It's easy to do. The Squad is getting more news popularity than Trump now. And ratings in the form of TV time are all that drive Trump these days. So by dropping a few broad hints or turning the discussion in that direction, get him worked up so he tweets something outrageous that will get the spotlight back on him.

Trump, of course, doesn't give a stuff any more about the politics of what falls out of his pie-hole. Who knows if he means anything he says or not. He sure doesn't. But this was a calculated political provocation, something he isn't good at arranging. It is an attempt to turn attention from the ICE raids by generating faux outrage with highly provocative language. Trump is too stupid and disconnected these days to consider that...but Miller isn't. Miller would be well aware of the consequences, and has Trump's ear.

Perhaps instead of yelling for Trump's impeachment which is pretty difficult, some of his advisers should be impeached. They might be easier targets and they are also more influential. Because it isn't just the president who can be impeached, it's any administrative official.

I'm hearing the dulcet tones of cognitive decline making it harder for him to hide his real nature.

In dementia veritas

Gingrich once referred to Obama as "the food stamp president", so we know where he stands on racism.

Hey racism always sells well to the republican base, so they can finally go full racist. It has been a dream of so many that not just Steve King can go full racist openly but the whole party!

I'm hearing the dulcet tones of cognitive decline making it harder for him to hide his real nature.

When did he hide it? It seems that the reaction to this is just like the reaction to his campaign announcement that mexico was sending us their rapists. Really why would you expect any different result this time?

This is just Trump being Trump and will have no more lasting result than any of his other racist statements. His voters will brush it off and his critics will again see him as racist. This is just any of a dozen other "scandals" where he showed his racism and it will have no more effect.

Republicans simply don't care.

While all of this is going on, the Trump administration filed a new regulation on Friday which goes into effect on Tuesday and will make almost all immigrants ineligible to apply for asylum.
(Mentioned in the National Emergency thread. The text of the article has changed since then.)

The Trump administration on Monday moved to dramatically limit the ability of Central American migrants to claim asylum if they enter the United States by land through Mexico, the latest attempt by the White House to limit immigration and toughen the US asylum process amid overcrowded conditions at border facilities.
The rule from the departments of Justice and Homeland Security would prohibit migrants who have resided or "transited en route" in a third country from seeking asylum in the US, therefore barring migrants traveling through Mexico from being able to claim asylum and as a result, drastically limit who's eligible for asylum.

They predicted a Clinton victory in the popular vote (which is exactly what happened). It was the analysts who failed to examine the polls in more detail to look at state-wide trends.

I think most analysts did examine the states. Here is one example.
Doesn't mean the polls were wrong though because in this case the 1 out of ten came through. I am also sure the NY times 85% prediction was based upon the electoral college which of course is based upon states. Most predicted a popular vote victory but they also predicted electoral college victories.
https://www.reuters.com/article/us-...ters-ipsos-states-of-the-nation-idUSKBN1322J1

The former secretary of state was leading Trump by about 45 percent to 42 percent in the popular vote, and was on track to win 303 votes in the Electoral College to Trump’s 235, clearing the 270 needed for victory, the survey found.
