Seriously, how stupid do you have to be to pour a gallon of petrol onto the thing you want to torch, wait almost 40 seconds before you light it, AND THEN STAND RIGHT IN FRONT OF IT UNTIL IT IGNITES.

Safety tips for anyone who uses hydrocarbons to light a fire.
1. Do not use gas (USA) or petrol (rest of world).
2. Have one person handle the fuel and another to light it.
3. Keep a good distance between the fire and yourself.

It's not a white supremacist terrorist act, it's someone with severe mental health issues who should have been spotted and treated.

Now had he been darker complected then of course it would have been a terrorist attack deserving the most vigorous countermeasures :rolleyes:

6. If you are using gasoline/petrol, do not, under any circumstances, pour the fuel onto an already lit fire. The fire will flash back into the fuel container and set it on fire.

I have, on two occasions, had to resort to using Coleman fuel (pretty much identical to gasoline in its behavior when used as a fire starter), in order to start a fire in rain with wet wood. What I did was pour the fuel onto the kindling, close the container and move it well away from where the fire was intended to be, then stand back and toss a lit candle into the fuel. On both occasions, it took two attempts to get the wood lit. I waited for the gasoline fire to die all the way down before applying more fuel and relighting. I don't reccommend this. In both cases, I was on a backpacking trip and really needed a fire to keep warm and dry out wet clothing and shoes, and was unable to to get a fire started with my usual lighter, candle and twigs method. Stove fuel was my only remaining option to get a fire lit, and I took appropriate precautions to minimize the hazard.

Given that this was an anti-semitic wacko committing arson, I'm kind of disappointed that he didn't manage to kill or severely burn himself.

When the problem becomes as big as you think it must be? Or at least as big as lightning strike deaths maybe... (US stats sorry, but this IS where all the nazis are, right? Maybe other countries are drastically different!)
