Moderated Trump announces new concentration camps

And the question of whether conditions are bad because of inadequate resources or because of deliberate and avoidable mistreatment is not a nitpick. It's pretty god damned important. If you actually cared about detainees rather than just bashing Trump, you would recognize that.

It amounts to the same thing. If the resources are inadequate, it is because the administration chooses not to allocate adequate resources.

Furthermore, if a child is in a cage separated from their parents, in unsanitary conditions, surely you agree the children must be rescued whether the cause is inadequate resources or deliberate mistreatment.

No, it doesn't amount to the same thing at all. The two problems require very different responses. With regard to resources, Congress has a very large role to play.

Unless you define a prison as a concentration camp what we are seeing with the illegal immigrants is not a traditional cons=centration camp but a place to hold the criminals crossing the border into America illegally. A true concentration camp like the ones the Jewish people had to endure mean eventual extermination.

The residents of these internment facilities are fed well, given medical care and don't have to do slave labor and eventually die.

These people are treated like criminals because thats exactly what they are.

They aren't criminals, they are asylum seekers, and many of them are children. A Civilized society does not put children in prison, even if that's your chosen euphemism for what are clearly concentration camps.

Shame. ******* shame.

When justice returns to the US, there will be a reckoning for this ****.

No they don't, they both require rescuing the children from the situation they are in.

Congress were happy to give the Administration resources to help alleviate the crisis. The administration just wants to build some stupid ******* wall with them.

so four year olds can be criminals?

We are talking about children. Even if you categorise their parents as criminals (which is debatable, see uke2se's post), you can't possibly say their children are also criminal. They are victims.
The children are in separate probably better facilities for their own good. These children are as often as not with an adult that is not a relative who possibly planned to sell them to perverts for sex. They are more likely than adults to have a disease which they can treat at the facility. If these children are indeed separated from their parents it is only a temporary situation.

You really have no clue, do you?

Stop posting if you are unwilling to learn.

Citation needed I think.

What's debatable about their criminality? America has immigration laws which these people are openly and flagrantly violating? The children are indeed victims and not criminals but who are they the victims of? They are victimized by sex traffickers, irresponsible parents and who knows what other horrors.

THEY ARE ASYLUM SEEKERS. IT'S NOT ILLEGAL TO SEEK ASYLUM. So, no, they are not criminals.

For your own sake, try to understand.

For pretty much all of it. None of what he posted is true.
I thought there would be better luck in getting a retraction if I started with one of the more outrageous claims. Baby steps....

Who am I kidding? I'm not going to get any serious engagement at all. There will probably be a link to one case of child sex trafficking which the poster will expect me to extrapolate to half of all children crossing the border.

What's debatable about their criminality?

There is nothing debatable. Regardless of the alleged criminality of their parents, the children are innocent victims. Either the government is locking them up illegally or their parents dragged them across the border illegally and then the government is locking them up illegally.

Whether the parents are or not, the children are not.

The children are indeed victims and not criminals but who are they the victims of? They are victimized by sex traffickers, irresponsible parents and who knows what other horrors.
I think it would be more constructive if you found that citation I asked for instead of making up spurious stories.

So, would Australia or Europe be part of the "civilized" world? If anything, people want stricter immigration controls, even in Canada, and as far as I know, there isn't a country which operates a "Refugees welcome!" policy anywhere in the world.

My main point is that when you look at the big picture, Trump is not exceptional, and you aren't getting much of a "Let Them All In!" movement gaining traction any time soon. He just pays a lot less lip service.
