First night: 9 of them are not going to be president. Possible VP picks.
Second night: 7 of them are not going to be president. And of the other 3, Sanders looks weak now.
 
At this point I am sticking to the concept of not trusting anybody over 70.

Would not be a bad idea, except that as we know Gore has been permanently sandbagged by the media sound bite. He could come up with a solution to half the world's crises while dancing nude on the Capitol dome, and the media would criticize him for over-intellectualizing, and Trump would tweet "boring!" and the voters would say "yeah," and choose someone they'd be comfortable with at the legion barbecue.
 
538 has results for the first night in. Polls say Castro won, O'Rourke lost, everyone else performed as expected, which is great for Warren especially since everyone expected her to be the most competent person in the room and she delivered.

"Trust" might not be the exact term I'd used, but in broad terms I don't like people making decisions who know full well they are not going to live long enough to deal with the consequences of them.

It's a lot easier to not care about climate change or the fact that the younger generations have no long term financial stability when odds are you're gonna be dead by next Tuesday.

That's how I feel about the wealthy politicians. However badly they screw up the country their own lives are going to be insulated by their wealth. Sea level rises fifty feet? So what, they'll live in their Aspen mansion instead of their Florida mansion. Stock market crash? Well, they'll just have to live off the principal in their Cayman Islands trust for a few years. Healthcare dreadful? Just fly the private jet to Switzerland. War breaks out? Those investments in defense contractors will sure pay off.

Unless they are running for president there is no problem.

Cognitive decline happens. If a person is still relatively mentally sharp at 70 they likely won't be at the end of two terms in office. The are also less likely to adapt to change as they age. There is also a good chance they won't live long enough to fill out whatever terms they get elected for. I don't see a lot of aging politicians coming up with new ideas after 70. I see them championing ones they already had before then that did not get implemented.

The job is too important to risk on those who might be in mental decline. As examples we have a current president who is clearly not what he was when he was younger and had a former actor that was already suffering from Alzheimer's by the end of his second term.

Sure there are people that do just fine. But we don't need to take risks with the presidency.

My initial instinct was that the disinfo comes from the same places, so the overlap makes sense. I've seen Gabbard pushed by many of the same people that might have supported Jill Stein, just as an example. So along with the Russian disruption narrative.

However, I am often wrong, and I wonder why the disinformation would need its own disinformation. NBC News was apparently caught using dubious sources to push a story that Tulsi is the Kremlin candidate.

I agree about the overlap, but I really don't know who or what's driving it. I don't always trust Glenn Greenwald but he definitely gave me pause about my own assumptions.

Of course, I'd love to see a debate where Gore brings his Academy Award, and then asks Trump "Where's your Emmy? Oh, that's right.... you don't have one". I'm sure Trump's reaction would be a joy to behold.

They have a strong position on one thing that divides the Democrats, and hammer that nail with every chance to speak, so I'd like to see them have a place in future debates. Warren's pretty close to their age, but didn't come off nearly as crotchety.

Booker, Buttigieg and Harris had the best nights. Since exposure has been all three's problem, I'm expecting the race will tighten considerably.

And hopefully Booker and Harris can start getting some news recognition. The media is enamored with Buttigieg and they're still lusting over Beto.

Already they are featuring Harris soundbites, she scored there. Booker didn't make the same impression on the media, but I agree he comes across as a good candidate. I'd love to see a Harris-Booker or a Harris-Buttigieg ticket.

The news reports about Harris "raising her hand to eliminate private insurance" seem disingenuous. I heard the question and interpreted it as a personal question too.
