The Internet is a flutter with news of a planned "Straight Pride" parade in Boston. Most people are treating it as a joke, something that may not even happen. The more I read about the organizers and the pool of people they'll draw in the more I suspect this will be a white supremacist / skinhead rally looking to beat up people they don't like. It's currently scheduled to happen during the move-in weekend when Boston roads are choked with college students moving into their dorms.

A tl;dr summary of the organizers.

I can tolerate just about any sexual perversion but I draw the line at allowing Yankees to march. Ugh.

Based on the previous showings of these goons in my fair city, I think "yawn" is the appropriate response here. Let them fill out their permits and have their 4 car parade if they want. These poor "oppressed majority" activists are obviously looking for conflict, both with the city over permitting and violently with antifa types. We would be wise not to grant them either.

I am curious what the protocol is for granting parade permits. How tiny and pathetic can your parade be and still be granted permission to close streets and inconvenience thousands of city dwellers for a day?

Last time they had their little shindig in the Common, I happened to be in the city and took a gander. It was a small smattering of neo-fascists and antifa types separated by very bored looking Boston police. Unlike other idiotic cities, the BPD didn't allow for violent skirmishes to occur without intervention, so it was just a big, lame shouting match of a bunch of overweight neckbeards and college edgelords, waving 4chan flags and communist flags respectively.

I sincerely hope that Boston does not issue parade permits on move-in weekend. As Halleyscommet says above, it's an absolute quagmire of cars and rental trucks clogging the streets, no need to add more congestion.

It would be good to see both of the Straight Pride marchers walking manfully arm-in-arm lockstep down a busy Boston sidewalk on a sunny day. ;)

That is a great idea!

I suggest that such a parade use music from Queen, Elton John, Boy George and a few other such people as an accompaniment.

The backlash is funny as they attempt to stereotype heterosexuals. It's insightful and reminds us that stupid lives on all sides of the spectrum.

Straight Pride Parade? That's the line at the Chick-fil-A drive thru.

What will they wear? Sandals with socks. Dad jeans. (Those two are from AOC).

Last I heard they still did not have a permit.

Straight is one of those things I can't imagine being proud of. If being straight was something I was reviled for and managed to live my life properly in spite of it, then I might be proud.

The ideal response would just be for everyone to ignore them as trolls, but of course, people fall for trolls every time.

Getting angry. Going to counter protest. Perhaps going to pick a fight with them. These are exactly the reactions they are counting on.

By the way ...

If they want lots of straight men to show up for this parade, then the organizers need to provide plenty of lesbian porn.

Gay pride parades are a reaction to a society that frequently tells gay people that what they are is shameful and less than.

Straight people don't really get that, so a straight pride parade is kind of nonsensical in concept.

That said, if people want to do it I see no reason why not. There's no requirement that your views should make sense, after all.

I saw a great comment the other day that really hit the point.

"So #Pride. There are things you can criticize, but at heart it's a celebration of the fact that we reject your shame."

I love that part - "...we reject your shame"

View it in that way, and it all makes sense, to me.

Why will there be blood?

Are there people in Boston who would assault straight people for having a straight people parade?

If you take a look at the articles I linked to, the people organizing the parade have a long track record of committing and inciting violence in public venues. I think their real agenda is to start a riot in Boston.

I see they have a history of marching against violence, but not violent themselves

is this like the kind of violence like the guy committed with his head when he was hit with a bike lock?

I'm not sure if I'm interested in this or not. It doesn't seem like it will actually happen as one of the key organizers has proven track record of being a poor organizer.

I also like the article that calls some guy I've never heard of "notorious". Is he notorious in Boston?

Its not clear to me that they have much of a track record of anything really, inciting or engaging in violence among things they don't seem quite able to pull off.
