Why? So that certain people can't try to turn an innocent, friendly gesture into something sexually inappropriate? That says more about them than Biden.

While I do agree with what you've said, Biden has a history of this and this is why it looks bad for him.

I knew someone would post that, but I had it ready to go, in case.

Absurd comment.

As I've said to other defenders of Biden's behaviour - you go and try that exact same thing in a shopping mall near you.

I'd going to take a guess and say if you go up to a 10-year-girl you don't know, and have no relationship to, and put your hands on her shoulders, two things will happen:

1 Her dad will beat the crap out of you.
2 You will wake up in handcuffs.

But keep defending the bloke, in spite of his own statements that he's learned his lesson.

Absurd overreaction and an absurd analogy. If I had taken my 10 year old daughter to see Biden and he told her she was "as smart as she was pretty" and then taken her to see (along with me) journalists after I'd told him she wanted to be a journalist and he put his hands on her shoulders, I wouldn't overreact like a paranoid fool who thinks every man is out to molest little girls.

Stacy thinks it's harmless. The Atheist thinks it was inappropriate. Venom correctly points out it looks bad.

I think it makes him look like that creepy grandpa that kisses the kids at Thanksgiving on the lips and who doesn't understand it's creepy even though it was innocent.

Bottom line, people see it different ways. He's running for POTUS. He can't afford to look like that creepy grandpa. It doesn't make him look like 'one of the people'.

So regardless some people find it benign, he's going to hurt his campaign especially since it looks like he can't stop himself.

That is a wildly out of context description of what I witnessed.
Akin to describing the actions of a shopping-mall Santa as "inviting small children to sit on his genitals"

Somewhat offset by the small bounce it may receive from those that think being creeped-out by something so innocuous is ridiculous.

Perhaps he just didn't think people would overreact to him innocently touching a little girl's shoulders. This wasn't a woman he was making feel uncomfortable by getting in her 'space', it was a child's shoulders for crying out loud. Are people going to have a conniption fit about his leading her by the wrist to see the journalists? Here's a video of the 'incident'. Sorry, but I see nothing wrong with what he did. What I see are people making a mountain out of a freaking molehill.

You're a month late.

This argument might have made sense before it became clear that people were going to (over)react this way. Before he publicly acknowledged the reactions. Before he publicly committed to not doing it anymore.

After all of that, it no longer makes sense to say that maybe he didn't think it would be a problem. He's already said in public that he knows it's a problem. Please make more sense, Stacyhs

Handsy Uncle Joe's poll number has started falling, but that happened before his latest groping-&-pawing episode, so it must have been for other reasons.

I doubt that the decline will suddenly accelerate in response to this. His support already had to consist of people who think the groping & pawing is fine, and people like that aren't going to suddenly think it's bad now.

I do think it's interesting from a demographic perspective, though. His support already appeared to be largely from old people, setting up the pre-primary quasi-race as a war between the generations. And the kind of groping & pawing he does could be seen (a bit selectively) as not sexual but the kind of groping & pawing that a lot of people remember their older relatives doing to them when they were children. (This might not have been the case for you, but it's at least common enough to pop up as a comedy trope from time to time, like in "The Princess Bride" when the kid in the framing story complains that Grandpa's going to pinch his cheek, & then Grandpa pinches his cheek. They put that in there because they knew most people would identify with it from the kid's perspective.) So the people who are most likely to support him anyway for whatever other reasons just happen to also be the people who are coincidentally the most likely to see themselves in him about the groping & pawing.

...I wouldn't overreact like a paranoid fool who thinks every man is out to molest little girls.

Zzzzz.

Joe Biden 4 April 2019 said:
So the idea that I can’t adjust that the fact that personal space is important, more important than it’s ever been, is just not thinkable. I will. I will.

Social norms have begun to change, they’ve shifted, and the boundaries of protecting personal space have been reset. I’ll be much more mindful. That’s my responsibility, my responsibility. And I’ll mean it.

Much more mindful...

Yeah, right.

That's it, exactly.

He knows it was wrong.

He stated he would not do it again.

Then promptly did.

And this is the bloke who's supposed to beat the dishonest bloke in the chair right now.

...So the people who are most likely to support him anyway for whatever other reasons just happen to also be the people who are coincidentally the most likely to see themselves in him about the groping & pawing.

Nailed.

Still, it's nice to see the Dem frontrunner being the closest the Dems could find to Trump himself:

White
Over 70
Lies a lot
Lacks self control

He was accused of invading women's personal spaces. Was there a flap over Biden invading men's personal space? No...and why not? Because it didn't have a sexual connotation as it does with women nor a backlash from the metoo movement. And it doesn't with children either. Would we take a grown woman to sit on Santa's lap without asking her? No. But parents take their children to sit on a stranger's freaking lap every Christmas and Easter with no 'Oh, my! Look at Santa and the Easter Bunny invading their personal spaces! Oh, the horror!". Take a look at the actual video and if you see anything inappropriate in it, then I suggest the problem is yours and not Biden.

Why do you continue to ignore the fact he said 'he gets it' and would stop?

Why are you ignoring the issue that everyone doesn't see it your way, no matter who is right?

You keep foot stamping that no one should be bothered. That's fine but a lot of people are bothered, including some of the women he touched.

He actually claimed that he needed to do a better job "reading" a situation to determine if he is making someone uncomfortable.
Did the child in question complain that his actions made her uncomfortable? Indicating that he read the situation wrong.

You all go on and have yourselves a nice little 'outrage party'. I've got better things to do with my time. I'm outta here.

Dang, you broke my 'I never agree with you' streak.

Uh...um does he ever do these things to men or even boys?

Kiss the back of their heads, his mouth in their hair
Tell them he bets are as smart as they are beautiful
Rub their shoulders

You're still arguing the thing that was already litigated. Biden promised to stop.

Maybe that's Biden's problem, he said he gets it but he really didn't.

"Good looking", not "beautiful". And, subjectively, it appeared to me that he was about to say something like "beautiful" but changed his adjective to "good looking" as he realized how some people might (over)react to "beautiful".

I bet it would be possible to find an example of him calling a man or boy "good looking" or "handsome", maybe even one he went on to hug!
