That might happen without impeachment. In fact impeachment might motivate them to double down. Yes, 33 (I think) senators face re-election next year and some Republicans will be vulnerable. I can think of one in my state.
I think that the last numbers that I saw was that about 12 of the Republican Senators up for re-election are considered at least somewhat vulnerable at present.
Remember though, as Trump and Randy Rainbow says, "he's a very stable genius".
Randy, of course, being the much more trustworthy of the two. Either way, Trump's such a stable genius that he inspired the
STABLE GENIUS Act.
Excellent piece & good analysis.
Thank you.
You say that as though you think Pence would be an improvement.
Better a crook than a zealot.
If he was just an incompetent crook, that'd be one thing. He's not. It's hard to say whether Pence would be better or not with a categorical like that. For people concerned with National Security and international relations, for example, Pence is likely to be far less treasonous and generally horrendous than Trump. Admittedly, the bar there is really, really absurdly low. When it comes to corruption, Pence is likely to be notably better. When it comes to picking competent people that can actually do the job in the first place, Pence is likely better. When it comes to LGBT and Women's rights, Pence is likely to be worse... if only because he'd be able to get things done directly, rather than from the background like he's been doing.
Anyways, random news time.

Report catalogues soaring incidents of trespassing, disruption, and intimidation at abortion clinics
In its latest annual tally released this week, instances of trespassing at clinics hit 1,135, a 78% rise from 2017 to 2018. There were 125 vandalism incidents, the highest number since 1990. In 2017, there were 1,704 instances of obstruction of a clinic; in 2018, NAF recorded 3,038 incidents. There were also 57 threats of death or harm at clinics last year, including one in which a forced-birther with a bullhorn yelled to staff entering a clinic, “I have a bullet with your name on it.”
Next up,
more confirmation of the obvious.
Clapper is also clear in exactly why there wasn’t a larger effort in 2016 to fight back against Russia launching a military operation to interfere in a U.S. election."House Speaker Paul Ryan and Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell said they would not support a bipartisan statement that might hurt their nominee for president," wrote Clapper. "It seemed they had decided by then that they didn't care who their nominee was, how he got elected or what effects having a foreign power influence our election would have on the nation, as long as they won."
The Republican leadership was and is traitorous.
And... as the party of financial responsibility -
After passing a prison reform bill, Mississippi stole the money for new tax cuts—now the bill's due. Ahh, the joys of seeing the Republicans in a wholly self-inflicted bind that also distinctly harms their constituents and America as a whole.

Well, I tried to feel those joys, but nothing's coming. I'm not much one for schadenfreude, still.
