Hitler was a creation of his times, of war and defeat and national humiliation. McConnell's times have had none of that, but he chooses to be what he is. Trump is vile, but he could be nothing else. He was made that way. McConnell is self-made.

I'm curious? Which Clinton and why? I'd bet Bill would be a very good player. Hillary, not so much. But I could be selling her short. I also think Bill would be the most fun by far.

Good point. I don't expect theprestige will get it. His resentment of "progressives" is palpable : he never tries to justify Trump, he targets Trump's critics. The educated liberal elite, such as you and me, with our superior airs.

Hitler and Goebbels as ultimate icons of evil is, frankly, lazy thinking, taking no account of the disastrous times they were creatures of. The Holocaust/Final Solution itself was something they arrived at late on. Trump and McConnell have no such excuse, and while Trump was damaged goods from (if not before) infancy, McConnell wasn't. He understands what it is he's degrading by his behaviour and does it anyway.

I can't disagree with you more. Hitler basically laid out his plans in prison in Mein Kampf after the failed Beer Hall putsch. His plans were deliberate. He was a racist anti-semite who appealed to the worst in the German people. Trump is a stumble bum compared to Hitler.

Race theory, ntionalism and gentile anti-semitism do not equate with the Final Solution, and were hardly that abnormal in the 1920's. As Herzl said of German anti-semites, "They only want the same as us - to protect the purity of their race". The export of Jews from Germany to Palestine would have satisfied National Socialists and Zionists. And this is not about Trump, it's about McConnell - of course Trump is just a worthless turd, he could be no other and frankly the world is always full of them. They're like virtual particles that become real when the likes of McConnell enable them.

I was thinking Bill. I concede he would be fun to play with, but I don’t think I could read him. I’ve actually met him twice and there’s just something about him that sucks you in. I ain’t playing poker with him.

You pretend as if Hitler didn't terrorize the Jewish people in Germany from day one. I grant you that the final solution didn't take form for ten more years. But the NAZIs began to systematically take away basic civil rights from Germany's Jewish citizens starting in 1933 when Hitler took power. By 1936 half the Jewish population had left the country. In 1936, Germany passed laws against Jewish people holding professional jobs. They were purged from the teaching profession and academia altogether. By 1938 Germany started to confiscate property.

I can understand that. I remember he could give a moving speech after a tragedy and be joking around moments later when the cameras weren't on him. My guess is he would be able to bluff.
