The Trump Presidency 14

2, probably 3 before he's out of office Supreme Court Justices.

Literally... everything he's wanted he's gotten.

The Presidency itself since that's not like some small little side hustle.

What he "wanted" is not what he's achieved, which is not from L'il Donnie's Big Book of Wishes. He wanted attention and publicity for his dubious property deals. What he got was "elected".

Unless, of course, you're saying that Trump is secretly the brains behind the reactionary right wing think tanks whose recommendations he's been implementing.

Trump is the dog that caught the car he was chasing.

Perhaps a visit to the collected quotes of H.L. Mencken would help?

Hmmm. This is the first one that comes to mind...

“As democracy is perfected, the office of the President represents, more and more closely, the inner soul of the people. On some great and glorious day, the plain folks of the land will reach their heart’s desire at last, and the White House will be occupied by a downright moron.”
H.L. Mecken - Baltimore Evening Sun, July 26, 1920

I note from the BBC today that President Trump says that Huawei could be taken off the "Entity List" if a suitable trade deal can be struck.

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-48392021

Ignoring for the moment that President Trump says an awful lot of things, many or most of which never come to pass, but wasn't the issue that Huawei presented a security risk and therefore had to be placed on that list.

If they really do present a security risk then taking them off that list because you've got a marginally better trade deal with China doesn't sound like a sensible thing to do - China will be even more annoyed with the US and hence more likely to exploit those security risks. If it's all just a clumsy shakedown prior to resuming the trade talks, tipping your hand this early in the process sounds like a pretty dumb idea to me.

Then that is what the stable genius will do.

Trump Tweets

“Nancy Pelosi should not be out there doing the kinds of things she is doing. She will diminish herself and her membership. She cannot put a subject with a predicate in the same sentence. What’s going on?” Ed Rollins

Wow! CNN Ratings are WAY DOWN, record lows. People are getting tired of so many Fake Stories and Anti-Trump lies. Chris Cuomo was rewarded for lowest morning ratings with a prime time spot - which is failing badly and not helping the dumbest man on television, Don Lemon!

When is Twitter going to allow the very popular Conservative Voices that it has so viciously shut down, back into the OPEN? IT IS TIME!

Now he's re-tweeting grammar critique of Pelosi? That's a bit rich...
She's really getting under his skin with her little remarks. Go Nancy!

When is Donald Trump going to un-ban the very popular progressive and liberal voices he so viciously blocked? IT IS TIME!

Well, with that said... Orange man IS bad. All those specific things that have been pointed out pretty unavoidably lead to that conclusion. That some people seem to think that understanding that Trump is a very bad man, based on the preponderance of evidence, somehow makes for a defense is a bit mind-boggling. Or, it would be if it wasn't obvious that they're equivocating between the reaction to Trump and the reaction to, for example, Obama, and ignoring the massive differences in the situations.

This is reminding me of the “Obama is a Thin-Skinned Narcissist” thread. I may have to look that one up and see how it holds up.

So he's worried the most about TV ratings now? I thought there was some sort of National Emergency on the southern border, there's the motor building and coal digging industries to revive, there's a trade war with China to win, North Korean dictators to hug, the war with Iran is looming ever closer... and yet he is worried the most to tweet about Don Lemon's TV ratings.

What. A. Prat.

"Orange man bad"
"TDS"

Over these past few years, I've come to the conclusion that Republicans need to boil things down to a short, simple, easy-to-remember catchphrase or acronym because anything beyond that would fly right over the heads of the majority of their voter base.

If you're doing comic relief, then ok, but I don't agree with this kind of sweeping statement if you really mean it.

Republicans aren't stupid, and the majority of the base isn't stupid either. There are stupid people in there, but the same can be said for any party in any country, naturally. HDS and ODS are acronyms that exist and neither are because the majority of the Democratic party base are stupid either.

Republicans supporting trump are invested and defending their hill for a variety of reasons.

but there is an authoritarian streak in the GOP so that Republicans will vote R even if they don't agree much with a candidate. That means that Politicians only have to cater to those on the right who might not vote at all - and that means simplified extremists views.

Do you all realize that Trump committed a felony yesterday on National Television? He bribed the Democrats to stop the investigation. That is both obstruction of justice and bribery of a public official.

I don't think that a prosecutor would touch that as either obstruction or bribery, especially not the former. Tit for tat deals are common in legislative negotiations and are not called bribery.

No but it might still be seen as obstruction.

Either way, it's petty and stupid.

It really was a live Tweetstorm:

Linky (emphasis mine).

The last line seems to start with "Intentially".

I hope the pic isn't too big. I find trump's spelling to be very interesting.
