I'm not sure it has to be actual war, but certainly there must be an enemy, and yes, this doesn't count as treason. That's hyperbole at best.

But the spying still stinks, and very well may have been illegal.

Why does investigating a foreign threat to the Elections 'stink' ?

We have four investigations, one complete, about the beginnings of the Russia Probe, and none have found anything criminal.

Here's the thing that Trumpistas like Zig would rather not face up to.

The FBI didn't start a counter-intelligence investigation on Trump's campaign just because someone thought it would be a good idea. They did so because they received information from co-operating allied foreign intelligence services (Mi5, Mi6) who were spying on the Russians.

Those foreign intelligence agencies became concerned when multiple members of the Trump campaign and other Trump associates (e.g. Rick Gates, Paul Manafort, Don Jr, Ivanka, Jared Kushner, Mike Flynn, George Papadopoulis, Michael Cohen, et al) kept repeatedly popping up in their surveillance of the Russians.

The FBI/CIA would be derelict in their duty to the security of the United States if they had ignored such information.

How would it be illegal, exactly? Trump was a private citizen back then, and it seems to me like, after 9/11, spying on private citizens in the US was legal rather easily.

And British IC, being part of Five Eyes, would have been derelict in their duty if they had not warned their US counterparts.

Meanwhile, Trump’s multiple counts of obstruction are actually illegal. Right, Zig? applecored?

The "spying"... may stink. Maybe. The first problem here, though, is that the people pushing the "spying" propaganda just aren't even remotely trustworthy in the first place. They're generally the same people trying to call the Constitution "unconstitutional," for that matter.

With that said, if some of the claims I've seen actually were true, which is giving quite a bit of the benefit of the doubt to the claimants, there *might* have been something improper going on at the very beginning, when it comes to the investigation being started in the first place. That fairly quickly became irrelevant, though, when evidence was given to them that would have necessitated an investigation anyways.

With that said, though, when it comes to actual impropriety and the actual effects of such, the fake FBI "leaks" to Guiliani about how there was no investigation into Trump going on outclasses the "spying" claims by orders of magnitude, yet I hear virtually no hubbub about that from the Republicans. It doesn't fit their desired narrative, after all.

Trump tweets

Never a fan of @justinamash, a total lightweight who opposes me and some of our great Republican ideas and policies just for the sake of getting his name out there through controversy. If he actually read the biased Mueller Report, “composed” by 18 Angry Dems who hated Trump,....

....he would see that it was nevertheless strong on NO COLLUSION and, ultimately, NO OBSTRUCTION...Anyway, how do you Obstruct when there is no crime and, in fact, the crimes were committed by the other side? Justin is a loser who sadly plays right into our opponents hands!

How very jejune. I assume you made this up yourself. Don't give up the day job, you're no John le Carré.

Its not made up, its common knowledge; these facts have been known for over two years. If this has come as a surprise to you, then you have not been keeping up.

Britain’s spy agencies played a crucial role in alerting their counterparts in Washington to contacts between members of Donald Trump’s campaign team and Russian intelligence operatives, the Guardian has been told.

GCHQ first became aware in late 2015 of suspicious “interactions” between figures connected to Trump and known or suspected Russian agents, a source close to UK intelligence said. This intelligence was passed to the US as part of a routine exchange of information, they added.

Over the next six months, until summer 2016, a number of western agencies shared further information on contacts between Trump’s inner circle and Russians, sources said.

The European countries that passed on electronic intelligence – known as sigint – included Germany, Estonia and Poland. Australia, a member of the “Five Eyes” spying alliance that also includes the US, UK, Canada and New Zealand, also relayed material, one source said.

The Guardian has been told the FBI and the CIA were slow to appreciate the extensive nature of contacts between Trump’s team and Moscow ahead of the US election. This was in part due to US law that prohibits US agencies from examining the private communications of American citizens without warrants. “They are trained not to do this,” the source stressed.

“It looks like the [US] agencies were asleep,” the source added. “They [the European agencies] were saying: ‘There are contacts going on between people close to Mr Trump and people we believe are Russian intelligence agents. You should be wary of this.’

“The message was: ‘Watch out. There’s something not right here.’”

No it's not made up and the problem for the hard core Trump supporter is always, how to counter it. Again and again, and not just here, we see them try and counter these facts by simply denying they're true ("you made this up") and ridiculing anyone who tries to discuss the circumstances that led to Trump and his campaign coming under scrutiny and investigation ("you made this up"). I'm inclined to skip two lines down and write "Sad!" except...it really is sad. :(

And lest we forget, by all account Guiliani was recieving leaks from the FBI - more specifically the New York field office, and the leaks involved Hillary Clinton.

Yep... Trumpistas are more than happy to have a criminal president, and to make up no-end of excuses for his criminal behaviour, just so long as he is a member of the right tribe.

Deutsche Bank money-laundering bombshell will make ‘serious problems’ for president:

Boom!

The bank staff recommended that they contact federal investigators about possible criminal activity in the accounts of President Donald Trump and his senior aide and son-in-law Jared Kushner.

“The transactions, some of which involved Mr. Trump’s now-defunct foundation, set off alerts in a computer system designed to detect illicit activity, according to five current and former bank employees,” the Times reported. “Compliance staff members who then reviewed the transactions prepared so-called suspicious activity reports that they believed should be sent to a unit of the Treasury Department that polices financial crimes.”

The bank rejected the recommendation, and it appears now it might spark another investigation, according to Trump biographer David Cay Johnston.

“We know for a fact that Donald Trump has been involved in money laundering in the past, fined for it,” Johnston said. “We know that Deutsche Bank is fined over $600 million just for laundering money for Russian oligarchs and are nondenial denials. The Trump Organization said we never heard of this. Why would you? It was locked up in the bank. The bank said we didn’t stop anyone. The story makes it clear.”

Trump pulled his usual and settled when he was charged with violating 106 anti-money laundering laws involving his bankrupt Taj Mahal casino:
Feb 11 (Reuters) - The parent of Trump Taj Mahal, one of Atlantic City, New Jersey’s struggling casinos, has settled U.S. government charges that it violated federal laws designed to thwart money laundering, court filings show.

Trump Taj Mahal Associates LLC agreed to the assessment of a $10 million civil penalty by the Treasury Department’s Financial Crimes Enforcement Network, according to a proposed consent order filed on Tuesday with the U.S. Bankruptcy Court in Wilmington, Delaware.

The penalty will take the form of a general unsecured claim in Trump Taj Mahal’s bankruptcy.

In exchange, Trump Taj Mahal admitted to have willfully violated reporting and record-keeping requirements under the federal Bank Secrecy Act from 2010 to 2012.

These violations included many that had been previously revealed by the U.S. Internal Revenue Service as far back as 2003.

The settlement requires court approval.

Running a casino is tantamount to a licence to print money; even if you are a fair to average businessman, you really can't go wrong... but Trump managed to find a way.

Oi larfed!!

Instead of trying to defend Trump's actions, it appears that the Trump cult is full-on just attacking investigators. Snitches get stitches is their driving motivation because they understand that Trump is a criminal and a traitor to the USA.
