Bernie Sanders, “The Economy is doing well, and I’m sure I don’t have to give Trump any credit - I’m sure he’ll take all the credit that he wants.” Wrong Bernie, the Economy is doing GREAT, and would have CRASHED if my opponent (and yours), Crooked Hillary Clinton, had ever won!

Democrat Rep. Tlaib is being slammed for her horrible and highly insensitive statement on the Holocaust. She obviously has tremendous hatred of Israel and the Jewish people. Can you imagine what would happen if I ever said what she said, and says?

Their is no reason for the U.S. Consumer to pay the Tariffs, which take effect on China today. This has been proven recently when only 4 points were paid by the U.S., 21 points by China because China subsidizes product to such a large degree. Also, the Tariffs can be.....

....completely avoided if you by from a non-Tariffed Country, or you buy the product inside the USA (the best idea). That’s Zero Tariffs. Many Tariffed companies will be leaving China for Vietnam and other such countries in Asia. That’s why China wants to make a deal so badly!...

..There will be nobody left in China to do business with. Very bad for China, very good for USA! But China has taken so advantage of the U.S. for so many years, that they are way ahead (Our Presidents did not do the job). Therefore, China should not retaliate-will only get worse!

Geezus.... this guy is much more of a ******* moron than I gave him credit for.

Yup, that's how manufacturing business works folks. You just pick up the phone and find yourself a new supplier for all your parts/materials in a matter of minutes... with no slow down or halt of your assembly lines whatsoever.

No need for the supplier to investigate and approve your credit (afterall, you're a US company and that's good enough dammit!), no need to verify whether the supplier's parts are to the specs you require for your manufacturing production line, no need for machine calibrations or CAD drawings or software reconfigurations, no need for quality assurance inspections, no need to ensure shipping volumes/shipping time/shipping costs.... No need for any of that silliness!

All you have to do is pick up that darn phone and *poof* you've got a new supplier and shiny new parts overnight!

Yessiree... that Trump is a magic man, I tell ya. A magic man!

The very reason why people "by" from China is that it's cheaper. Buying from the US might cost even more than from China with the Tariffs in place.

When people think of China, they think of cheap plastic dollar store toys and kitchen utensils.

They don't think of all the electronic components, metal/steel components, vehicle components, raw materials that can't be so easily sourced from other parts of the world, etc etc.

Trump really has no clue the long line of dominoes in play when it comes to (specifically) the various manufacturing industries.

He has no clue how much it can cost a company for every hour they might have to stop their assembly lines because they don't have the parts they need to manufacture their finish product, or the parts they've received are inferior.

As an example: When you're in the business of making transit buses, you can't just buy your chassis from any ol' supplier anywhere in the world. That chassis not only has to pass welding xrays and a dozen other engineering quality inspections, it also has to be made to the 1/1000th of a millimeter to your specs in order for it to fit all the other parts you have coming in from other suppliers around the world. It's a whole bunch of fine-tuned calibrated puzzle pieces that all have to fit together perfectly to make the end product (the transit bus).

Depending on the type of manufacturing industry you're in, the design schematics of your particular product and the specifications of the parts you need to slap it all together can be very detailed and customized.... a long process of design configurations and reconfigurations between you and your supplier(s) before their manufactured component meets your needs.

But according to Trump, it's just a simple matter of picking up a phone and finding a new supplier. Easy peasy.

The guy is a ******* moron.

Edit to add: And the point you make about the cost of parts/components/materials also plays an important role for these manufacturing companies. Maybe they'll be able to source their components from some company in the US, but at a much higher price... which of course trickles down to the consumer. Chances are they'll just continue to buy their products from China because it will still be cheaper.

The bottom line is, everyone will feel the pain of Trump economics. From the raw material supplier, to the component manufacturer, to the shipper, to the end product manufacturer, to the store, to the consumer. All the way down the line.

Yes. That in itself is a problem. Of course it would be easy fix the president’s ignorance if he didn’t think he was an infalliable stable genius.

Speaking of Trade with China... as expected, China has retaliated against Trump's Tariffs with tariffs on roughly $60 billion of U.S. goods. (The problem is, China is actually running out of things they can put tariffs on.)

from: https://abcnews4.com/news/nation-world/china-announces-tariff-hikes-on-60-billion-of-us-imports
...China announced Monday it was raising tariffs on $60 billion of U.S. goods in retaliation for the latest hike in U.S. tariffs on its exports.

And as a result of the Trade war...
...shares sank Monday across the globe. Futures contracts for the Dow Jones Industrial Average and the S&P 500 were down 2 percent before markets opened on Wall Street.

I thought trade wars were easy to win?

Its probably not a major problem for Trump, but I do like to see him suffer even for the small things:

From: https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2019/may/13/trump-buildings-climate-fines-new-york-city
...eight Trump properties in New York City do not comply with new regulations designed to slash greenhouse gas emissions. This means the Trump Organization is on track to be hit with fines of $2.1m every year from 2030, unless its buildings are made more environmentally friendly.

A soft retaliation on China's part by the looks of it. Very diplomatic of them. I don't think I would have played it so politely as they did.

An interesting little tidbit I learned yesterday while reading around the internet, which kind of surprised me: The US is not China's largest customer, apparently the European Union is?

If this is true, Trump doesn't have as much leverage as he thinks he has.

Maybe its a 'soft retaliation'. But as I said, China is running out of stuff to put tariffs on, so their limited response may be just a case of them not being ABLE to do more.

A valid point. But they've also given the US two weeks before their retaliation kicks in, June 1st. Unlike Trump... who just slaps on the tariffs with less than a 12 hour notice.

He's a dick. And he seems to love/thrive on playing the role of a dick.

He's not even that great at being a dick. I've had a bunch of dick friends, and they're usually fairly intelligent. That's the reason they're dicks. Trump is just a run of the mill *******.

China has other means of retaliation.
Most importantly, unlike what Trump thinks, how the US treats China on trade does bleed into anything China does, including their claim to Taiwan, the SCS, their role in Africa, the New Silk Road and, most importantly, North Korea.

After telling Sanders he's 'wrong', Trump then goes on to do exactly what Sanders said he would do: take all the credit. What a moron.
I actually thought Trump was a good businessman and intelligent until he ran for president and revealed what an idiot he is. And he just reveals that idiocy more and more every day.

For what it's worth, I refer to Trump by much more creative names. But I wanted to use a word that didn't get asterisked to death on the forum.

In the meantime, I'm having fun imagining all the creative words to replace your asterisks.

:D

LoL I get asterisk'd a lot around here. That's why I lurk more than post. I'd probably be banned by now if I said everything I thought.

Trump's biggest problem to intelligent people is that he refuses to educate himself. He's fine repeating the same old nonsense. He repeats his lies so much people have just stopped noticing.

How would that look any different from what China is already doing to advance its agendas in those areas? North Korea is a major piece of a long-term Chinese strategy in the region. China's engagement in Africa is also a long-term strategy not contingent on the treatment China receives from successive US administrations.

No, we notice them but we've just stopped being shocked by them. His supporters don't even recognize that they're lies.

Yep, that is what China is doing.
And on its own, the US has no chance of stopping or even really slowing it.
Too bad Trump has burned all bridges with traditional allies and partners.

That makes two of us.

I've been told I have the mouth of a sailor with the heart of a saint. Unfortunately, being a little rough around the edges doesn't always translate well on internet forums.

This only took about five hours to correct. Isn't it nice when our President shows the world what a moron he is? (I can forgive a simple typo/error, but this goes to body of work.)
