If Biden assumes the close and only runs against Trump in Trump territory, that could work for him. He should, at some point apologize for a few things but only after he lands some blows on Trump and draws blood. I thought he was damaged goods but this campaign might keep him ahead of the pack.

Mate, I hope you hand on your heart and typed that one-handed when you posted it.

Near brings a tear to my eye.

In that case, I'd advise giving your breast-plate a good buffing, because he's going to need all the help he can find when the PACs unleash their attacks on him.

Which begs the question, where are the Democrat PACs? What the **** is Tom Steyer doing besides inviting everyone to join his circle jerk? With that guy's money, Trump should be drowning in negative social media buys.

Oh, nonsense. They're going to attack anyone who wins the Democratic nomination.

Yeah, but the attacks on Creepy Joe will be graphic, slow-motion and highly uncomfortable for female watchers and parents in particular.

Lucky the Dems don't need their votes, I guess.

Saving it all for next year?

The clever thing for Dems to do is to hold a few massive rallies, possibly by candidates teaming up, making sure to get bigger crowds than Trump on his constant ego trips.

The PACS are waiting for clear signals of who will be buttering what sides of the toast. Many of the outcome-driving signals from the party apparatus have them feeling quite wary of making a step that goes off script and being denied access at a critical momemt.

More simply put, they're waiting to be taken by the hand and led around.

That's currently in the process of hammering out the pecking order in the back rooms. Once everyone has the assurances they want, you'll see more public maneuvering.

Interestingly, my candidate got a solicitation from NGP VAN (big Democratic database backend provider) today, I replied with a reminder that offering services to us could jeapordize their status with other party entities, haven't heard back since.

Your'e forgetting the sleazebag he would be running against. I doubt it will matter next to grab them by the pussy, bust into their dressing room, Golden showers, porn star loving, my daughter loves sex Trump.

A solid 1 out of every 3 replies to anything "Biden" on social media today was an animated gif.

I'm no fan, but for policy and optics reasons, so when analysis pieces are full of this memetic attack line, I don't find it appealing.

Early this year, they said about 49% of registered voters would "definitely vote against" Donald Trump, with only 26% who said they would definitely vote for.

That brings me some relief, though complacency is dangerous of course.

We need someone who can give that push to overwhelm the Trump vote, and I don't know if uncle Joe has it. He's creepy and boring. His creepiness gets cancelled imo by Trump's absolutely revolting behavior for the past 3 years, but he's still boring and the only thing he has going for him right now is he's probably the only Democratic candidate so far who has attacked Trump right out of the gate, as if to suggest he doesn't care about the competition. He's already won; it's between him and Trump now and he'll strike first.

I doubt that very much. Only people such as yourself who can't seem to distinguish gestures of support from sexual harassment will be swayed. No big deal because that cohort is pretty small.

For Biden to reach out to Anita Hill to make amends three weeks before announcing his run positively reeks of sincerity. What a ******* asswipe, then and now.

Regrettably, this election cycle might be similar to 2016. Two abysmal candidates -- an establishment dem with a massive pile of baggage, and a rigid ideologue with diarrhea of the mouth hell bent on losing the general. Both ancient. Hopefully someone else emerges.

I think Biden is the Jeb Bush of this election cycle. He's the guy with the most name recognition and the most ties to the "establishment", hence the "default" frontrunner but that doesn't really mean much at this point.

I kinda like that Mayor Pete fellow at this point.

How is Trump's history going to work against him in 2020 when it utterly failed in 2016?

I'm pleased you're so sure about that.

I'd be interested to see how many fathers with daughters would be turned off by seeing Creepy Joe's hands wandering all over other people's daughters.

I also find it totally unrealistic to call kissing and rubbing little girls as "support". Support for what? Pedophilia?

Not every PAC needs to declare for a candidate. You can have PACs that just run negative against an opponent and never declare for a candidate. They used to be called 527 organizations before the campaign finance law got gutted. They keep the candidate on the high road and let others do the dirty work.

The problem with Biden isn't just Biden himself, it's the Democrat leadership. Yet another machinery insider 'centrist' with a history of working for the status quo, problematic behavior, and an attitude of "it's my turn, I'm the lesser evil, you have to vote for me". Hillary Clinton could pull that off (barely) because there really were no alternatives beyond Sanders, who appeared to be a fluke. But now, four years on, we've got examples of actual liberals in office, making waves, doing what voters actually want rather than working for the banks and industries. AOC can't run for president yet but she serves as an example of what's possible: a politician who isn't moribund after decades of selling out. And how does the Democratic Party leadership treat their next generation? It dismisses and belittles them.

Biden doesn't need to lose the race himself, Pelosi already lost it for him. Any candidate the party leadership pushes is tainted with all the mistakes the party has made and all the dissatisfactions the voters have. How else did Trump end up beating the actual Republican candidates? But that's what the Democrats are trying to avoid, they want to keep tight control of their precious party. And I think that's their real struggle this time: the old-school Democrats can have the party or they can have the presidency, but not both. I predict they'll choose the party, continue trying to quell the new blood, and again lament their defeat by lecturing the voters on why they should have voted for them.

I loathe Trump but I'm no longer willing to hold my nose and vote for the anointed Democrat insider just to counter Trump. More has to be offered. Biden isn't sufficient, even as a lesser evil to Trump. We're into year three of Trump and we're still alive and unnuked. If it takes another Trump term to force the Democrats to move truly left it might be worth it. My prediction: voter turnout will be much lower than in 2016. The Clinton voters exasperated with the Democratic party will stay home, as will those Trump voters unhappy with Trump. Neither group will vote for the other, they'll just abstain.

I was thinking the same thing.

And another! "No, you!" is so mature.

I'm just pointing out your annoying tendency to rephrase things to support your biases, rather than address what has actually been said. That you threw the words back at me is an irrational response, usually because there's a grain of truth in the accusation.

If you want to avoid confrontation, don't misrepresent what other people say.

I never got that from Hillary or Biden. Where do you get that impression?

It's going to be a binary choice. All these people you think are going to be offended by Biden are going to go to even creepier Trump? Get serious. Trump is going to get his votes. 35 percent will still vote for him. Places like Alabama and Mississippi where relatives are still eligible for sex. But good luck where people made it past the 7th grade in school.
