I agree.

If truth coming out of the white house is a tough thing for them to practice on any given day, then these press briefings are a waste of time and more importantly, a waste of taxpayer money.
I was thinking more along the lines that it is a waste of journalistic resources.

Anything a politician wants you to know is almost not worth knowing. I say "almost" because I'm sure there are exceptions, but there is always an agenda with politicians. I usually trust career bureaucrats more than I do most politicians. And I don't distrust politicians in the sense that I think they all lie all the time, but most of them are running for re-election all the time.

Sanders does a bang-up job for Trump, so I think it's odd when reporters tell her she's not doing her job. Yes, she is.

See, I think that kind of internal inconsistency is going to plague Trump for the rest of his term. The report obviously drives him bonkers ... he wants to have it both ways but can't quite decide on his message. He tried to obstruct justice, but it all worked out because people just ignored him.

Who thinks there will be a special counsel appointed soon to look at the oranges of the Mueller report? Will Barr have to recuse himself?

Maybe that's the problem right there.

These people aren't supposed to be doing a bang-up job for Trump (or any other politician). They're supposed to be doing a bang-up job for the american people.... who pay their wages.

She admitted under oath her claim was baseless. Baseless being the key word here.

In other words, she either exaggerated for the sake of brevity (which is still technically speaking: a lie), or she outright purposefully lied on national television as a declaration of support for her master.

She's a liar no matter which way you look at it. And now that she's no longer under oath, she's trying to backpeddle and twist everything into a new alternative fact... the exact same type of dishonest tactic her master uses every single day of the week.

Basket of deplorables, indeed.

I agree completely. That anyone is resorting to such childish and lame excuses as we've read here to defend Sanders shows just how low they are willing to go.

MSNBC made a policy decision not to play Sanders' press conferences live, denouncing them as too full of lies.

On another note, the Trump talking point of the day is, this investigation detracts from Trump being able to work on all those important things the country needs. Like his golf games?

And here again their memories are so lacking. They don't remember, apparently, all that time they wasted attacking Bill Clinton. Because it was so important a POTUS couldn't delay Paula Jones' day in court.

.... a big, fat, waste of time, energy and money - $30,000,000 to be exact. It is now finally time to turn the tables and bring justice to some very sick and dangerous people who have committed very serious crimes, perhaps even Spying or Treason. This should never happen again!

... a 'big, fat, waste of time, energy and money'. Trump must have been looking in the mirror when he said that.

The Washington Post and New York Times are, in my opinion, two of the most dishonest media outlets around. Truly, the Enemy of the People!

Trump is sounding more and more like others who have used that phrase: Goebbels, Mussolini, Stalin, Mao...
But can his supporters see that? Nah.........

Trump can fire her, though. The people can't.

I just noticed that he inserted "in my opinion" before calling them the enemy of the people. That strikes me as very odd.

Having read the report and some of the analysis...

1. I think Trump should step down. It’s clear that he tried to obstruct. I think the House should impeach and I think the Senate should then remove him from office. Won’t happen, but it’s what should happen.
.

I would much prefer the Republican leadership convince the president to step down. Truly a Sisyphean task, but that would be best for the country. An impeachment would merely convince the most fervent Trump supporters that the Democrats are the enemy and that they launched a coup to overthrow a legitimate government.

The interpretation represents a missing fact. Did she count the "number of FBI agents" or not? If not then her representation is correct. There were several agents but she did not bother to count them. As this happened at a date in the past , the number of agents can only be "countless" to her perspective of that past moment when asked.

I'm sorry, but are you seriously suggesting that when she said "countless" she meant "uncounted"?

..."-pation!"

Now I can stop holding my breath.

Trump supporters need to ask themselves:

"What would be my reaction to the Mueller report if the name Trump was replaced with Clinton or Obama? Would I still hold the same view that it exonerates her/him? Or would I be outraged and calling for impeachment?"

Of course this would require being honest with themselves and I'm not sure many of them are capable of seeing past their own partisan bias.

How about liberals ask themselves how much they would defend their president if it was her first?

That’s why I say American politics is broken. No one cares what’s best for the country, only what’s best for themselves. I think it’s been that way for awhile now, but the Trump Presidency has very plainly exposed the whole game.

The American people are too divided to demand change and politicians only care about getting re-elected. All anyone really cares about is that their side wins. To hell with “the right thing to do.”

Like I said, I don’t have the first clue about how to fix it. I can’t even say that I’m very different. All I can really hope for is that the people we elected will do the right thing; but, who will do that when it will likely cost them political capital?

I don’t trust either party at this point. The GOP is ****** and the Dems aren’t much better. What are We the People supposed to do with all this, at this point?

Oh, just stop. This ISN'T her. There IS a Mueller Report on Trump. There IS a report on Trump's lies and his failed attempts to obstruct justice.
Stop with the crap.

ETA: If a report like this emerged on Clinton, I'd be saying she needs to resign or get impeached. But no matter how many investigations the GOP threw at her over 3 decades, nothing even close to what Trump has done was ever discovered. Get over it.

Obviously she should have counted the number of agents and made notes for use at a later time in case she was asked for that specific number. ;)

This is a technique used by prosecutors that are trying to get the witness to tell a lie under oath so they can then prosecute them for perjury or making false statements under oath. She did well by not putting a number to the amount of agents if she did not know that number.

Chris B.

No, your interpretation represents a missing fact. When asked about the "countless" word at a press conference, she twice clarified that she meant "a large number." That was a lie.

If a Democrat betrayed the county, siding up to Putin to win the election, possibly trading a bit on sanctions and Ukraine relief, favorable to Putin,

I would hope Democrats would be appalled and turn against that candidate of POTUS. We might have it in us to look the other way when it came to shagging young women in the oval office, having an affair for years, and exposing oneself to women... whatever. But not a treasonous quid pro quo with Russia.

What you do is claim that both sides are evil when your side is found to be wrong.....
