BREAKING: In Calexico, CA last week, where POTUS told border agents to block asylum-seekers from entering the US contrary to law, Trump told CBP head McAleenan if he were sent to jail as a result, the president would pardon him, 2 Sr admin officials tell me.

More on @CNN...

2/ Officials briefed on the convo say they don’t know if POTUS was joking or serious. WH referred me to DHS, DHS spox says: “At no time has the President indicated, asked, directed or pressured the Acting Secretary to do anything illegal...

3/ ”...Nor would the Acting Secretary take actions that are not in accordance with our responsibility to enforce the law.”

Did he use the word "promise"? Because if he didn't say that word, he wasn't really promising a pardon.

Did he use the word "joking"? Because if he didn't say that word, he couldn't have been joking when he said he would pardon McAleenan.

I promise I'm joking a bit here, but readers may recall a recently departed "contributor" who insisted that "words have meanings".

Trump and his minions sure seem to hide behind the "It was only a joke" excuse a hell of a lot. At some point, anyone with more than half a brain would realize that excuse is getting really old and stop. But not this orange buffoon and his staff. They just keep on keeping on....

And his idiot followers just keep swallowing it.

Instructing someone to break the law with the promise of a pardon sure seems like an obstruction of justice, does it not?

Edited to add: I see that comes up quickly in the remarks to that tweet.

If Trump actually pardoned in this case, don't expect any action from the Republicans in congress. They have become as obedient to Dear Leader as the Nazi Reichstag members in the 1930's were to their leader.

This is not going to end peacefully.

Plus many states have their own civil rights laws they would not be shielded from.

Yes, he does - the same guy whose first reaction to 9/11 was "Hey, I have the tallest building in NYC now.", and who falsely claimed that "muslims" were celebrating in New Jersey.

Again, this is because he's a white supremacist.

He promised to inflict harm on nonwhite people, and he's delivering on that promise. And in case it wasn't clear why the red hat has become a symbol of bigotry, Dolt 45's own actions, like the above, are why.

It's more than that, it's a complete refutation of the concept of the rule of law. It doesn't matter what the law says, what legislators do, or what the courts decide - he alone will determine who is really guilty.

From Reuters, new deadline of April 23 for Trump’s tax returns.

U.S. congressional Democrats on Saturday headed for a showdown with the Internal Revenue Service over President Donald Trump's tax returns, setting a new hard deadline of April 23 for the federal tax agency to hand the documents over to lawmakers.
In an April 13 letter that appeared to move Democrats closer to a federal court battle against the Trump administration, House Ways and Means Committee Chairman Richard Neal warned the IRS that failure to comply with his request for six years of Trump's individual and business returns by April 23 would be interpreted as a denial.

If the Radical Left Democrats all of a sudden don’t want the Illegal Migrants in their Sanctuary Cities (no more open arms), why should others be expected to take them into their communities? Go home and come into our Country legally and through a system of Merit!
