I love how the man who got elected on "Telling it straight" now has to have everything he says "interpreted" by a bunch of soothsayer like he's the goddamn Oracle at Delphi.

He didn't use the word guarantee

Child: can we go to Disney World?
Adult: I would love to go, so we'll see....
Child: when are we going to Disney World?
Adult: we are not, I have to stay at the office because of an emergency
Child: You "promised" you "guaranteed" it! Runs off wailing in tears.
Adult: Grow up

You attempts at gaslighting are getting less and less convincing.

I'm pretty sure that even the pythia would say "gosh, that's cryptic. I have no idea what that man is saying."

This is gaslighting folks.

I am objecting to the so called "interpretation"!!!

I'm sick of "gaslighting." I don't at what point we all agreed that somebody pointing out you are wrong or disagreeing with you is somehow a form of psychological warfare, but it's getting old.

Agreed. The word has certainly lost all connection to its origin as well as any clear meaning more nuanced than "You are saying something I dispute."

When Trump said he will “absolutely” release his tax returns he really meant... What? Is it understood the word promise is both a noun and a verb? Definition of "promise" as a noun from Merrian-Webster:
a declaration that one will do or refrain from doing something specified. Link

You misspelled "oranges".

Webster's clearly confused. The definition is:

A declaration that includes the words "I promise".

Actually it is spot on: What is happening here is people are claiming that although what I am saying is absolutely correct, they are going to claim it is wrong anyway.

Oh well,

Words mean things. He never promised to show them, full stop.

Over sell, under deliver, get called on it and blame the messenger.

I briefly attended a college with an honor system that specified that “quibbling” about questions results in immediate expulsion.

Your attempts to justify lying would be honor-code examples of expulsion-worthy deceit.

It is odd how the leftist liars claim he promised to do something

All deliberately use the word promise, that lie has been repeated here, pointing out that it is a lie now becomes a quibble.

Folk the leftists are gaslighting you.

LOL, Trump is campaigning on "promises made, promises kept" and in fact claimed to have kept more promises than he made. Maybe if you show us the difference with a few examples where he was "promising" something instead of just saying he was absolutely going to do it, we can learn to tell the difference.

Except that you are not, in fact, correct. You can't declare that you're correct by fiat.

Of course you're not really interested in being correct. You're interested in winning, and you've leared from your idol that that means you should never admit to being wrong; that's weakness!

I guess that was not a school of logic, huh? Pointing out that the media was deliberately mischaracterizing something would get a fella expelled?

Wow.

Trump promised to release his tax returns.
No he didn't, and he never used the word promise, that is fake news.
Quibbling you are expelled!

I’m not aware of any state School of Logic in the US.
If your god-emperor wrote a missive and was characterized as “saying” what was written we would only get the same dishonest quibble from you.

I honestly don’t get it.

You are better than that.

At The Citadel it was pointed out that saying you weren’t absent for bed-check at 2300 to a superior because bed-check was actually at 2330 was grounds for expulsion.

This is extremely easy.

Did he say he was going to release his tax returns multiple times? Yes.

Has he? No.

How the **** has this taken up multiple pages?

I agree with Joe Morgue. There is a certain value in drawing out the Trump defenders. Demonstrate how little they have to work with and the lengths they will go to in order to evade responsible behavior or discussion. It's very telling. A twelve year old kid would see it.

Trump repeatedly said he would release his tax returns. He used the word "absolutely." That's generally considered to be promising something. To insist he never promised because he never used the word promised is idiotic. Should Trump have released his tax returns? He criticized Romney for not releasing his. Is Trump an honorable man, a man of his word? Or just a crass manipulator of facts and people? Is it dangerous to have someone who is both dishonest and untrustworthy in the Oval Office? Many people think it is, it's very dangerous.

Other people don't seem to much care what happens to the U.S. Not really. It's all about some nonsensical belief in "payback." It really is sad. But there's always been people like that around. That's not going to change.

Trump ordered a hamburger with cheese on it.

Stop gaslighting me with this nonsense about Trump ordering a cheeseburger!
